Wedding guest opinion, please

Me again! Would love your thoughts on two potential wedding guest dresses for spring. (I know, I’m a planner…) I’m just not sure any of my current dressy dresses will fit by then…or ever,
so I want to have a plan. I like them both but am partial to the red floral. As long as I like it, I should wear it right? I posted the stock photo for comparison. It needs to be shortened three inches which I was going to do this weekend…
Is it just flattering enough? TIA!
ETA: thanks for your comments! I had wondered about proportion so I tried pinning up the top layer. The third set shows the top layer shortened in comparison to full length. The fourth set is the underlayer at two shorter lengths which I thought I could alter to make it more wearable down the road.

They are both great, but yes, I like the red.

The red floral is gorgeous on you! I like the length that you're showing it in the first pic. The second dress is also a good option, also really pretty on you.

Oh thank you, Carol and Sharan! The red floral is different for me. You can’t tell from the picture but it has a lot of movement and the bottom skirt part is sheer which makes it look “lighter” in person. It will work with any kind of waist fluctuation too!

The red looks similar length in the first pic to the stock photo yet longer in the second pic? Did you hitch it up in the first one? I like it better in that one than longer. My personal favourite is the pink floral dress though, I just think it’s prettier. That’s me though not you!

The red dress as a winner. I wonder if both layers of printed fabric should be shortened ( the upper one - just a bit ) for a better proportion - although it's a question for an alteration specialist.
The pink dress is pretty as well on you.

I think the red is fabulous and agree with the shorter length.

I prefer it to the pink.

I tend to avoid both black and red for Western weddings; there are frequently people who think they aren’t appropriate choices for a wedding. But if the bride and groom have a different cultural background then red might be lucky. But in that case I am not sure about the black?

Number 1 is very cool, a bit unique. Even though a floral it has some edge IYKWIM.

I think the red one kind of overwhelms your figure but I like the lavender one.

To my eye, and based on the photos, I love the lavender one on you. It fits beautifully at the shoulders and waist. The red floral one is super interesting, though. I agree with you on shortening it, and maybe there are other minor adjustments that can be made. I am curious to get a better sense of how it fits around the neckline and shoulders. It is gorgeous so go for it if it makes you feel fab.

I agree with Cookie in that the red is less conventionally flattering . The length might be throwing me off however. I love the print and colour on you though....

I like the second dress, but the red one is so gorgeous on you! My guess it is even more so as it flows around you when you move.

To my eyes, the red is more flattering on you! Looks like a fun dress for dancing the night away.

Both are beautiful! I love the dark red print, and I think it will feel and look amazing as you move (on the dance floor!). The pink/purple is also lovely, and really, you could decide that evening on which one feels right.

I like slim cat's suggestion of shortening the top layer, too. Although. . . I wonder if the top layer works on its own as a mini-dress, in which case you might keep it as is, for less formal occasions!

My vote is for the red one with the notion of shortening it a bit as you've suggested. Colour and pattern looks lovely on you. I love the flow, has a bit of a flapper style to it. Should be nice and comfortable to wear too.

I do like both but that red dress! WOW! I vote red floral, with it shortened like you show in first photo. It’s sooo stylish and unique on you, and it’s very flattering as well.

I like the shape of the pink and lavender dress but the print of the red dress. If you decide on the red and shortened it would you also shorten the upper layer to keep the proportion?

Thank you, Slimcat, Sharan and Lynette for bringing up proportions. Initially I had thought I could make it into a short dress—after the wedding so I wasn’t going to shorten the top layer. I may reconsider after talking to a tailor. The top layer has a tiny rolled hem like on a scarf—definitely beyond what I can do with my clunky machine. (The bottom layer is no problem for me because i can shorten from the waist and no one will see.)
I’m glad that the purple floral got some love too. I adore the print. If I can’t make the red one work, this will be the backup!

Without reading the comments, I love the red dress in the third set - slightly shorter but not knee length. I feel the dress loses some of its impact when it is that short.

Both dresses are pretty. I'm partial to the red at the shorter length. The draping on this dress is really pretty and the red coloring is stunning on you.

I like the red dress, shortened as in #1 or #3. I'll bet it looks brilliant in motion. But if it is spring, will you need a topper?

I like the red, either shortening the top as in the left on #3, or the shortest version in #4. I like the asymetrical top shortening in #3 (not sure if that was intentional?).

I do prefer the lavender- lilac dress! A little shorter than maxi, though. KILLER colours on you, Kelly! The halter style is gorgeous on your shoulder line.
