Shoe update: Love can be painful at times. So I sent back the size 11 Stuart Weitzman shoes and now have the 10 1/2s. I love them. They are just the look I want. I added the metatarsal pad as instructed by podiatrist (haven't posted about that visit yet) and the shoes fit pretty well. I will need more arch support and will get some gel ones next week. I can't put in Footpetals to support the ball of the foot because it makes the shoe too tight over the bunion.
I am going to take a second pair of less lovely but more comfortable shoes for the dancing.
I know from experience that the first glass of champagne will erase the rest of my discomfort, but before then I have to lead the procession.
DH is going to officiate and will wear his tux. I am sticking with my green dress. Right now we are to lead the procession down the aisle. The bride's mother is wearing a short dress--probably not as short as mine, and unless something amazing turns up I plan to wear it. When we reach the podium he will take his place and I will be seated in the front row. Next comes the parents.
Yesterday I went to Nordstrom to look for some kind of body shaper. The Spanx representative was there. She said the reason Spanx always roll down or up on me is they are the wrong size. I don't believe, but after I explained that I wanted something to smooth the midsection she sold me a Spanx slip. I would prefer black, but they only had nude in my size, which she correctly guessed as an L.
The wedding will be in the Zoo in the giraffe section. The bride loves giraffes. I found this dress online and sent a photo to my D-i-l and she said I should wear it to the wedding. It is too casual, not nice enough ($55 on Last Call) and I would feel disrespectful. I do think it would be fun to wear to the rehearsal.
#1 & 2 Giraffe dress with and without Spanx, 1st with Paul Green shoes I will wear and second with beloved SWs. I can barely tell the difference.
Do you think it would be too hokey to wear the dress to the rehearsal. The bride is a bundle of energy and good times and a lot of fun. She's great.
Should I shorten it to a more flattering legnth?
#3 & 4 Kay Unger dress without Spanx slip
#5 & 6 is with. Spanx. The slip isn't uncomfortable and doesn't ride up so far.
Should I wear black or darker pantyhose?
Still working on jewelry etc.
Notice no side views. Spanx does make the belly a bit less, um, prominent.
