I've been stalking these since early Fall, and I can get a super duper deal on them now. I'd basically be trading in other boots I don't wear that often (my brown faux shearling knee highs and possibly a pair of Fryes which really aren't comfy) to maintain my 1-in-1-out policy. Thinking the short boots would get more wear since they can crossover into warmer weather with shorts and dresses. I really love the buckles and how they are done in a non-biker way.

Do you think these can crossover into S/S, or am I wearing my emotional/sale goggles? My warmer weather style is usually part Free People festival-wear, part 12-year-old-boy, and part desert steampunk. If that makes any sense.

If it's the brown suede then I can see them for spring. The black leather not so much.

So, I love those boots for you. I don't wear boots in summer as it is far too hot. Not sure about summer in California, though.

Brown suede maybe for reeeeeeeeally early spring/summer but even then they look a bit heavy to me. But I am constantly amazed at your ability to wear boots in the heat!

I could wear those all year long. Then again, I'm in the SF area....the place that spawned the joke, "Coldest winter I ever spent was summer in SF..."

I'd wear them year round. Maybe not during a heatwave in the middle of the day but I'd definitely wear them.

I think you could get away with them year round, providing there is A/C where you plan to be during the day in the summer!

If you are looking for warmer weather alternatives, these look a bit wintry to me. I think the brown ones are awesome though.

I think either could work in spring. They would look really cool with a skirt or dress in fact. I would be interested to see them styled with some of that Free People festival gear.

Yes! You could pull it off! I'm with Rachylou! I wear my brown and black ankle booties year round (I also like buying duplicate pairs of shoes/boots in brown and black). And like her, I'm in SF area--I tend to get concerned comments from you all when I post outfits with sleeveless dresses in the winter, and when I wear my leather jackets and boots in the summer...I don't really care about seasons too much when it's pretty much the same season all year round.

Thanks for your honest opinions, everyone. You all really helped me decide to pass. I would have gone for the brown, but I already have my brown engineer boots, and it seems like the black are going to be winter-only. I do have other black boots I wear in summer, but something about these doesn't seem like it crosses over well. Hopefully some perforated booties or flatform loafers will cross my path instead!
