It has been a long, hot summer but the temperatures are gradually dropping and I have been enjoying wearing a number of ‘old but good’ items in my closet.

  • Photo 1: A work lunch with former colleagues, wearing a tweed dress, this dress has a matching coat (in Finds), but it was too hot to wear the topper;
  • Photo 2: a patterned jumpsuit for a casual BBQ dinner with friends. This is super comfortable, much like wearing pyjamas and I have been wearing it often;
  • Photo 3: Striped dress, worn working from home and a quick trip to the shops. I always like this dress when I wear it, but for some reason, maybe because it is such a statement piece, I don't wear it often. So I decided it was OK just to wear it, even though there was no occasion to do so.

I have been editing my wardrobe, dropping off items to goodwill and Dressed for Success and in the process rediscovered these old favourites. I love the tweed dress with pearls, it was nice to have an excuse to dress up in real work clothes. The tweed dress is by a local designer (Carla Zampatti) who sadly passed away in 2021. I have quite a few of her designs in my wardrobe (mainly work suiting) and have been trying to make sure that I enjoy wearing these items. Luckily the business has been taken over by her talented children.

I have been thinking that as the temperatures fall, I need to find ways of wearing that lovely tweed coat - it is not too heavy, so great for my Autumn and Spring weather, I think it could be fun worn with jeans.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
