Wearing flats in the winter/ snow?

A few questions on flats....when it is to cold to not wear socks, what color socks do you wear with them? Or should socks not ever be worn? What about when there is snow? We are going to have snow soon and for the rest of winter. Is it practical for me to buy some now?

I usually wear those little socks that just cover your toes if I need socks, but this year I'm on the hunt for some lace socks. I think you'll generally want to use a sock that extends the color of your hem, or at least is in the same darkness/lightness of the pant hem.

I don't wear socks with flats and would advise against it unless you plan to do it in a cute, arty way.

As for when it gets too cold: It gets too cold when your feet feel too cold.

Aida- Thanks, I agree I like them best without socks.
Maya- that is not what I meant, sorry it doesn't sound clear. I meant when it is too cold, what socks should be worn.

You could also match the sock color to the shoe color but it does remove a bit of the cutesy look that flats give.

When it's too cold to wear ballet type flats without visible sock, switch to booties/boots.

Boots, booties or oxfords would be better with socks than most flats, but when it's cold and I want to wear cute flats, I wear nude stockings under nude or black micro fishnet stockings.

If you're wearing a skirt, I'd go with tights, but with pants I think socks are going to look odd... Plus I would not be able to walk in snow in flats without getting my feet icy and wet, even with socks!
