Do you ever put a dress on, then put something over the top half so it appears as a skirt?

Yes! This time of year I've been getting a lot of mileage out of wearing summer dresses with sweaters or cardigans over them. It really expands my wardrobe options.

Not often, for 2 reasons. One, I'm usually in pants and two, I need a fitted bodice of a dress to not look broad all over. The bulk of a top over a dress doesn't flatter me, although I often like it on others.

Hmm. I always layer with dresses, because I'm always cold, but I can't say that I've ever done it to make the dress look like a skirt. Very interesting thought!

I often do, especially if the dress has a more flared/ flowing skirt. I have a leopard print dress that is a go-to in this way - its top is a sleeveless bodice, and sometimes, I also wear a fitted, ribbed turtleneck underneath for a different look as well.

I often change out the top, but this one of the few dresses I wear - in this image, I'm wearing a two-tone sheer mock turtleneck over it, but sometimes, I'll pop on a button front or the aforementioned ribbed fitted turtleneck with a narrow belt at the waist (I haven't posted any pictures of this look here, for some reason. I wear a lot of turtlenecks, and I guess I think they're too dull for YLF?).

I layer over and under dresses all the time. I use a basic tube dress as a starting point and just add. I would never wear.....just the dress, I like to see even just a peek of another colour or texture and layering does suit our climate.

Yup, usually with a belted cardigan overtop of the dress.

A couple of times in highschool I flipped the top part of a stretchy spaghetti strap dress (early 00s...) inside the dress and wore it as a tube skirt. That's actually what I thought you meant!

I've done it a few times before, usually with a sweater or a cardigan over the top. I think it works best with dresses that have flared skirts, but I'm also partial to flared skirts in general. I think it's a great way to make dresses more versatile and/or dress them down.
