We will be in NYC in January

There is a VERY good chance that Greg and I will be in New York (Manhattan) at the end of January (sort of the last weekend plus a few more days). YLF work is once more bringing us to the East Coast. Flights have not been booked yet because we’re still working out final details, but there is no time like the present to start planning a YLF get together.

Are any of you able and willing to meet us in NYC? I know it’s not the best timing (bad weather and post Christmas slump) but if there is a chance of meeting any of you, you know we’d be absolutely delighted!

I can not completely promise anything now, but chances are about 80% that I might be able to join you! I haven't been to NY in a while and it is time to visit some friends. Oh, I can not beleive I may see you&Greg again so soon ( and hopefully also get to meet Maya)!

Tarzy, we’ll never say never. I go to SF more frequently, but who knows!

Maya and Laura, I’m THRILLED at the prospect of meeting you both! We’ve been to Manhattan several times, but you guys are more familiar with the territory than Greg and I. Would you like to think about the YLF get-together itinerary? When, where, what, how? We like to stay at a little boutique hotel on the Upper East side, but we are flexible and nothing is booked yet.

I was thinking about where to eat on the train today. My inclination is Balthazar but it's way down town. However, it IS in Soho so there is a lot of great shopping around.

Where are Shiny and Nicole? Maybe the Boston YLF-ers can carpool down here I hope they can come!

I have been thinking for ages of what I would wear if I ever had a chance to meet Angie. Oh my. I need to start preparing

Arrwh Maya, I'm touched you've offered to set up a day (and hopefully night too) plan. Soho is wonderful and as long as it doesn’t snow I think we’ll be fine. We are happy to travel from the Upper East side to anywhere, so don’t let that hold you back with picking out a venue.

I doubt whether Nicole and Shiny will join us. They have families and we’ve just had the Boston Tea Party, but I am holding out hope.

I’m sure you’ll look fabulous when we meet so no need to stress as long as those little feet are happy

Oh wow...how cool!

I'll see what I can do. I could easily talk hubby into a NY trip. The last time we went, we got stuck at Yankee Stadium for 8 freaking hours--and I didn't complain once! I even cancelled my reservations at my nephew's restaurant because of the game. We keep saying we need to go back. It's only a four hour drive.

I'll wait to get the details on the dates before I commit.

Balthazar is a very very trendy/expensive French-style restaurant/bistro in SOHO. (My dad lives a few blocks away.) It's great - they have the most amazing bread! (They also have a bakery attached.) But it is a bit pricy - just be warned!

Depending on what is going on, I might be able to make it too! I love Balthazar - they do have wonderful pastries, tarts & desserts. Plus, we would be right near all the great shopping in Soho!

Laura--that's what I was going to order too! I have had the scrambled eggs in puffed pastry before. DELICIOUS. I wanted to try the waffles forever though. Last time I went they had pumpkin ravioli in an herb butter sauce with walnuts. They don't seem to have it anymore but it was incredible.

Balthazar isn't THAT pricey, especially for what it is. I don't go there all the time or anything, but for special occasions it's perfect, and I think this is pretty special. For dinner it might be expensive, but I never go for dinner because their vegetarian options are nonexistent, or at least severely lacking.

Anyway, we don't have to go there. I just thought it was a very fashionable/fantastically delicious place to go There is plenty of time to decide.

As soon as the date gets closer and everyone has their schedules figured out, I will make the reservation Did I mention their chocolate cake with white chocolate ice cream? Divine. Maybe I've eaten there more times than I thought.

I'm going to be hungry for the next month and a half thinking about this.
