Oh my gosh that is both hilarious and horrifying!!!

Too funny, and you have my sympathy all at the same time!

Same thing happened to us as kids when my sister wanted a hamster. And no one told us to remove the babies quickly, so we had more hamsters . . .

What a sweet surprise. I remember having gerbils when I was young. They reproduced very quickly! Good luck and if DH & DS have pets you should be allowed to chose one too!

Aw, baby mice are EXTREMELY cute as they start to grow and get fur, but yeah, they will reproduce really quickly -- one of mine figured out how to get out of his cage and into the separate one that housed his sisters, very clever.

My favorite mouse experience as a kid was investigating our neighbors dumping something on the front lawn and discovering that it was a nest of wild brown mice, with fur, but with their eyes still closed. My and my sister were kind of horrified that they were being abandoned away from their mother so gathered them up and introduced them into a cage with a female pet store mouse we had. Within a brief period she had washed them all and collected them inside a plastic tub and made a new nest. The next day she was nursing them! She somehow developed milk?! As they grew they were much faster and more timid than tame mice so we released them in a field when they could eat dry food. Their foster mom ran ragged trying to keep up with them until then. She tried so hard though, and got them to adult mousehood :).

Rabbit - that is a super sweet story Made my morning.

I haven't had pet mice...........

How incredibly sweet!! I love all animals but I had to laugh, I've always call my pups "the rodents" because schnauzer puppies look like little black mice too!! Congrats from one :"rodent" mom to another!!

You are a brave woman Deborah!!

Anne, maybe you would like one for the girls!!!

How are the babies doing, Deborah? (I'm not sure what you call mouse babies; I've heard people call baby rats "rittens", so are baby mice mittens?)

Oh wow, you got a mouse with a family... You will need to decide quickly on how to place the little mice which will not be so little very soon. I wish you luck with that.

Oh dear - I had no idea that people actually purposely brought mice into their houses! I-Cannot-Fathom-this.

Marley, I have done many things, since bringing a child into my life, that I never thought I would do... I blame him lol

There are also some neat YouTube channels of mouse owners that I love to watch, because the mice are so charming and well trained. Creekvalleycritters and MouseAgility are two that I expecially enjoy.
