DS14 had his 8th grade "Promotion" tonight. They walk across a stage like a graduation and then they have a dance tonight. DS14 wore black pants and a charcoal grey suit jacket - probably not an ideal choice, but he looked pretty sharp all the same.
He brought a wrist corsage for his "date", as it was the first "real" dance. The kids had Halloween dances before and dances during school hours, and he always asked the same girl (she always said yes), but I was told that tonight was a big deal. The two of them have been best of friends since 3rd grade, and they often go to each other's birthday parties, go to local fairs together, meet at the local pool during the summer, etc. but they would deny that they "date" (they have both been told they are too young, and they still seem to buy it!). Regardless, it was important for DS14 to do things right, so he wanted to bring her flowers.
