So as this horrid winter drags on and on and on, I keep looking at warm winter boots... so many of them these days claim to be made of "waterproof suede." A lot of them are cute, but I can't think of a worse material for winter boots than suede-just think about how gross Uggs end up looking! Does anybody here have waterproof suede winter boots, and are they really waterproof? I've sprayed my regular suede shoes with the waterproofing spray and it does protect them against little splatters and stuff, but I'm sure they wouldn't survive getting soaked!

I guess the bigger issue/question is whether or not the waterproof-ness also means that they will not get scuzzy after being in snow/slush/salt they way that Uggs do, where they get those nasty white salt/grime marks. At least smooth leather can be wiped off and polished. I live in the city and walk everywhere - our streets are currently lined with 8 foot tall snowbanks and every intersection is a giant lake of slush and salt - so any winter boots have to be able to handle that!
