Waterfall ruffle cardi - purge or try to update?

One of the items I have not grabbed for yet this winter is my cashmere ruffle cascade cardi. The times I wore it before I tried to sort of roughen the sweetness of it. Is there a way to wear it in a modern way or should I let it go?

yay - purge, the style has moved on
nay - update it with modern styling (ideas wanted!)

It is pretty on you, but I am really not certain it is your style. It does seem a bit sweet, Maybe I just have a poison eye for ruffles.

Hmm, I'm not sure. I haven't worn my ruffle cardigan this winter either and will probably get rid of it. But since yours is cashmere, I'd be inclined to just use it as loungewear!

ETA: I'm not anti-ruffle. I still wear other things with ruffles, but I think the combo of ruffle and cardigan is a little too sweet/soft.

The color is current and cashmere is always special. However, although I love cardigans I have a poison eye towards ruffles. So I would vote pass on this one, but I think that viewpoint is biased so I'd see what others say.

Mo are you still into ruffles? I feel like ruffles are a very Mo thing AND the color is a nice olive, so regardless of how into them you are in a particular year since it's cashmere I am also inclined to keep it around.

I actually like it on you. Have you worn it with bright color under it? Like a neon coral or even a bright stripe? Or maybe a lace (or even a bright lace like cobalt) if you want to keep it more rocker style.

I do love the color on you, and the fact that it's cashmere would have me pausing. I'm not so into the ruffles though. I think the way you have it styled in pic 2 works well though. The outfit is edgy and takes the sweetness out of the cardi.

I'm meh on the ruffles, though you wear them well. Also can't tell if the color is too washed out. But it's cashmere, so I'd keep as fancy loungewear!

how do you feel in the ruffles, because i think this looks good. it's ok not to discard things out of fashion if it's a "mo" thing as aida says.

Ah, good questions as to how I feel in the ruffles. As long as I 'offset' them a bit, with less sweet items to sort of counter them, I feel very much still me in them. Perhaps I'll try a few tweaks and hold on for another season. And yes, cashmere as loungewear is a great thought, too!

I think it has a slightly steampunk vibe in #2. It may be a tiny bit dated but it's such a nice color on you (and cashmere!) that I think you can make it work.

Malina, this sweater with its ruffles echoes the waves in your hair in such a beautiful way. I vote keep and wear and not worry about datedness since it's lovely on you. To my eye the length helps to keep it from being dated the way the long version may be.

I'd keep, if only for lovely loungewear. I think waterfall cardis have kind of evolved to a more simpler shape; not so much ruffles, as more geometric and angular a bit like the unusual tops Deborah wears. The fact that it's cashmere would make me want to keep it though.

I like it! Is it too short to belt, maybe with a black leather belt with some studs? Or wear it under a moto or jean jacket or vest? I would keep it for a while, cashmere is an investment!
