I usually have a lot of things sitting in my online shopping carts, but very very few of them actually get purchased. Often I'm waiting for them to get marked down further, and they usually sell out first. I'm thinking though that most of the time something isn't really unique, there are other iterations of it out there at various price points, or will be given some time. Even the flash sale sites end up having clearance sales where the same item will sometimes come up again.
Very very rarely something is quite unique (due to color or pattern most often), and those usually haunt me until I buy them fast if I can return them, because I know once they are gone, that's it. They also tend to be things in my closet that don't date as much because they are unusual. But really if I don't move fast enough there will be something else great that comes along again, and I'll have more funds for it.
