My So-Called Life is a great way to refresh your memory on what the kids were wearing in the 90s.

ThirtySomething will get you the 80s, as will The Cosby Show.

How about the 70s? What, Brady Bunch? Partridge Family? Perhaps Charlie's Angels? Some series, like One Day at a Time bridged the mid-70s to the mid-80s just beautifully.

These are all American series, of course, but please chime in with any shows you associate with specific decades.

I was obsessed with show in the ‘90s when I was a teenager.

For the ‘70s, “That ‘70s Show”, of course! Also the original Charlie’s Angels, but that may have been movie and not a show.

It was definitely a show first, Tanya! My 12-year-old self never missed an episode, and desperately wanted that Farrah Fawcett haircut. And the back-pocket curling iron required to maintain it.

Let us not forget "What's Happening!!" in which Shirley Hemphill popularized shoving items like her waitress pen into a natural haircut and the back-pocket pick, while Fred Berry introduced us to early hip hop style and his amazing skill as a dancer.

1990's - Absolutely Fabulous (UK) was fun and showed some great fashion. Melrose Place and Ally McBeal glamorised working in an office in the 1990s.

Watching ER. Sooo ‘90s! What the one surgeon wears when she is not in scrubs in sooooo on trend now - it cracks me up

Love all the ‘70s shows too. Charlie’s Angels was a family event. Jacqueline Smith was our fave.

One Day at a Time = 100% my fashion go to!
i loved the fashions in Charlie's Angels, but between my age (young teen) and the fact that i lived in New England not sunny/always summer Cal, it was totally out of my reach.

LA Law --OMG that blouse that Susan Day wore, we sold a TON of these in my early retail career.

Mary Tyler Moore was another great 70s fashion show. as was the spin off Rhoda

Loved "My So-Called Life" so much! I re-watched the series several years ago and found myself so much more sympathetic to Angela's mom, now that I'm her mom's age--well, older actually.
"Friends" is a good show for mid to late 90's fashion.

Oh yes, my parents watched LA Law, but I remember the fashion (shoulder pads on suit jackets!). When my mom watched Charlie's Angels, I used to hide behind a chair and watch too as I was supposed to be in bed! (My favourite angels were Jaclyn Smith and Kate Jackson because they had brown hair like me!) Also, running in flared jeans and heels and carrying a gun was ba**ss.

For 80s to 90s fashion, Who's the Boss. I always thought Alyssa Milano looked amazing. As Lucy mentions, Friends was great too for 90s fashion. For movies, Pretty Woman and Clueless!! I would currently wear anything Alicia Silverstone wore in that movie!

Fun thread.

For me (in terms of fashion and loving the show)

1970s - Charlies Angels (I was young but loved it)

1980s - The Love Boat, Dynasty and LA Law.....

1990s - Friends, ER, This Life (English), Seachange (Australian - very late 1990s)

I loved Elaine's flat loafers and white socks very much. She never wore heels, which told me that stylish women of NYC don't mess around with uncomfortable feet.

I also grew up on black and white reruns from the 1950s: I Love Lucy, Leave it to Beaver, Father Knows Best.

Another 70s classic: Sonny & Cher. Their Christmas special was the first thing we ever saw on color TV in my family. It was 1973.

And from the late 60s, early 70s, Room 222. TV inspired by To Sir With Love.

Such fun to see Cher in those days pre-any plastic surgeries.

The trajectory from her appearance on their variety show, to Silkwood, to Moonstruck, to If These Walls Could Talk is perhaps a great record of "women feeling not good enough and trying to stay young via surgery." No judgment, just saying the idea that she was ever not beautiful is problematic. To me.

I haven't seen many of these shows!
I did watch Charlie's Angles and Friends but at the time didn't pay attention to the fashion. I recently rewatched Friends and was taking notes of what they were wearing... Did the same with Sex and the City during the pandemic while working from home. That was fun too for late 90s and 00's.
