Washing the Uniqlo compact puffer?

Hello, all - I believe I learned about the Uniqlo compact down puffer jacket on this site. I finally got one and I love it!

I was wondering how it has washed up by hand for any of you who have it; my other down jackets wash well in the machine and dry with tennis balls, but the tag on the Uniqlo says to not do that. Just wondering what anyone else has experienced. Thanks in advance!

Hmmm, haven’t washed mine yet, but I don’t hand wash so I hope it works in the machine. I will do a second rinse with just water no detergent, but generally that’s how I wash all my down

I’ve washed my honey beige one 3 times. I washed it with some towels in the washing machine on gentle cycle and then dried it in the dryer with the towels. I then hung it on my drying line upside down and gave it a few whacks with a wooden spoon to evenly distribute fluff. (Probably not really required.) It’s 2 yo and looks good as new. I’ve also washed DH and DS#1’s micro puffer vests, and DS#2’s down jacket with hood (all Uniqlo) without any problems whatsoever. I have not needed to wash my cream coloured puffer yet.

*note: drying time for down puffers (and pillows) is quite long, and you need to make sure they are thoroughly dry through and through.

@ silver - I’ll admit it looks pretty scary coming out of the wash cycle, but perks up after an hour or so in the dryer!

Until I read this, I had no idea that you couldn't wash Uniqlo down in the washing machine. Never read the washing instructions ( oops). I have a 3 year old Uniqlo ultra light down parka and two vests and I've washed them with other clothes on gentle cycle with cool water. I line dry (which does take a while) and then fluff up in the dryer with no heat.
