No...seriously, it gets KILLER humid here, too. I'm on Lake Ontario. And we don't have air conditioning. But, I admit, there is typically a breeze. Which really helps. And I have a big fan in my work room.
Honestly, though -- I wore silk tops in NYC during a heat wave last summer. It's all down to the cut. It has to be cut loose enough -- a sort of swing or trapeze style works best. I also go sleeveless, which might not be okay for you for work? Not sure about that. It does make a huge difference.
And yes -- I totally do stuff like K suggests -- it's not just in the south!! (It's just that I don't do it for as many months of the year -- here it's only for about six to eight weeks at most.)
I reaffirm the option of a linen knit. J. Crew has great ones. Again, you have to go for fluid fit. If any top is super fitted, it will be hot.
