I am wanting to have a wardrobe of nicer pieces but less of them.
Hence this purchase of Cinq a Sept blazer (Khloe) I do not wear black so this navy is my neutral. My husband thinks this outfit does not work. He thinks the blazer is too fancy to wear with jeans. (Il bought it to wear with jeans!) So if it doesn't wear well this way, I will return it.

So what do you think?

I think the blazer is KILLER with the jeans! The tee works well too

Maybe hubs is reacting to the sandals and doesn't realize it? Try boots, or loafers instead. Some type of closed shoe. More visually grounding.

I think you look beautiful and inspiring! What does he think is so fancy about the blazer? I'm asking because I can't see a particular texture, or detail that makes it fancy. I hope that sounds how I meant it, which is inquiring, not critical.

If you were hoping to look refined casual then I think you've achieved it. Blazer is elegant but works well the way you've styled it, but perhaps as Angie suggested some loafers or other closed footwear would complete the look to satisfy your husband's concerns.

I think it looks phenomenal. What a great cut and fit on you. My hubs has the same idea about a taupe pinstripe blazer that I was wearing with jeans. I eventually returned it to my MIL, which is where it came from. Maybe because the cut is so elegant the juxtaposition is unusual for him. I know my hubs has never had a sugar eye for juxtaposition. In the early 2000s when I wore floaty skirts and tall black platform boots he thought it was not cool whereas I knew it was. If you do not mind that he is not a fan of the outfit I vote Keep and where it exactly like this but maybe with closed shoes or boots as suggested by others.

I'm guessing he is of the mindset that blazers don't belong with jeans and a t-shirt? Agreeing with everyone else, you look fab in this! Maybe it's your task to gently educate him about how blazers can be tossed over anything, and look quite chic, as you are demonstrating here :).

I also echo other posters in thinking that a lot of men don't pay much attention to fashion, women's or otherwise, and may be unaware that juxtaposition is pretty solidly within the style mainstream these days. (Now, some people of all genders may be aware of it and not like it -- and that is ok too. But I definitely don't think you're doing anything too outre here!)

Oh no no. You look amazing in the blazer- jeans combo. The T is a great look with it. The jeans style is perfect- straight, not too slim or wide, so work perfectly set off the blazer fit, which is a great lengt and fit on you.

I also would wear a different shoe. The sandals maybe with a more summery cropped pant.

I would try the blazer with some other things as well to be sure you thinks it’s versatile enough for your needs, but I vote Keep!

What Angie said. The blazer is fabulous with the jeans and the tee. You look great! I'd try a different shoe, too. Your DH may be reacting to that, or he may have an idea that jeans are "only" casual or blazers "only" go with trousers and should be part of a suit. Sometimes it takes a little bit more time for our beloveds' eyes to adjust. Fashion today is all about juxtaposition but not everyone understands that intuitively.

Thanks for the FABULOUS input. Yes, I do know that fashion is all about juxtaposition to use SarahD8, Star & Suz's word--- high and low together. I figured he was wrong but I needed some positive input to actually pull the trigger. To be fair to hubs, I wasn't wearing any shoes when he saw this look!! THAT may have been the issue. LOL

And how can I not love Catherine, Olive green, Kate and suntiger: He is a man and he is wrong!! (No, you didn't say it that way.)

Allora asked how I felt about it. Well, the shoulders are stronger than I am accustomed to and the sleeve cap and front are a bit wrinkled since I had to have it shipped. It is more dressy (smooth fabric not cotton i.e. not denim) than I am used to wearing. With all the positive feedback, how can I NOT keep it esp. since it is in line with my style goals?

Thanks to all of you who invested precious time to help me make a decision! I am so grateful!

I would be glad to post a picture of it, but just can't get the hang of collecting from vendor sites!

I'm glad you are keeping it, as you look fabulous! Hopefully it becomes a workhorse in your wardrobe. When I am trying something new, I just wear it often until it feels like me.

Yeah, DH probably doesn't realize that jeans are commonly worn with a blazer and that it is a nice juxtaposition. Sometimes I don't ask the opinion of my DH

I love this! I think maybe your husband isn’t used to seeing this mix of dressy-casual, but his eye will adapt. It has just the right note of French chic. The length and the shoulder suit you so beautifully! If it’s comfortable and not fussy to wear, and you’re in the right climate for the fabric, I’d say this is 100% a keeper.

I too was going to suggest only changing sandals with some more substantial shoes- cause the blazer is looking great with those jeans and tee!
