Wardrobe addition that sparked joy?

My latest purchase that has sparked joy was a pair of dressy heels - magenta glitter pumps to wear to 2 balls and a black tie dinner in the next 5 weeks. The best part is that they are wonderfully padded in the toe box, making them not just pretty but also more comfortable than regular heels.

So not the most practical purchase, but definitely fun and a good way to add some colour to my predominantly black, formal capsule. I can see me loving and wearing these for a number of years to come, they are just so sparkly.

Beautiful and FUN! The colours are gorgeous - love the different textures of the the heels and the shoe. They will work perfectly with your black formal outfits, but also to inject fun to your retro classics, I think. I wish I could wear heels like these

One of my recent purchases that definitely sparked joy is a mint green and cream reversible leather jacket, I enclose a pic. It is a fun and beautiful piece, but not so practical. I have not worn it yet as it was raining almost every day the past two weeks and when it was not raining, it was too warm for a leather jacket. Oh well, the cut is quite timeless, so I hope it will last many years in my wardrobe. And get some wears

i can totatly see why those shoes would spark joy!

funny, but i bought this hat last weekend, and for so many reasons it sparks joy...1) its a bucket hat, which is a shape i really like, 2)its super lightweight and folds into self, 3)its navy!....i've already wore it twice!

I’m happy to say that my most recent purchases have been sparking joy, even when they were not super practical.

- the reversible silver and stone ring I bought in Santa Fe (a splurge but I love it and will get tons of wear out of it for a lifetime).
- new grey knee-length shorts in Santa Fe — super practical, already workhorses
- Peruvian Connection abstract print maxi skirt - already in steady rotation for summer
- Free People copper sandals - more comfortable than I expected and already in steady rotation
- white Zara cape-vest — limited wearing season for me, but joy factor in wearing is high enough that I don’t need it to be in constant use.

Those are magical shoes! And folks' other finds are so happy and have so much personality, too.

My new polka-dot top sparks joy; it has a slightly flamenco vibe and I have a thing about polka-dots.

I love seeing the pieces that spark joy. Bijou, your shoes remind me of Dorothy’s! Sterling, your red bag would spark joy for me, too. Here, every time I use the ice maker on our refrigerator, I mention how much I love it. How did we get along without it? One of my favorite wardrobe items is my Missoni poncho. I love ponchos, and I love the pattern and colors.

I can totally understand why those glitter pumps sparked joy. I was joyful finding my Coach glitter flats and get so many compliments on them. I will add a photo or find later. All
My “bone” colored EF pieces spark joy. I love the color and look and always feel fab wearing them. My silk kimono jacket from Citon Santa Monica also still sparks joy although I have worn it several years now. The colors! I wear it with blue jeans, black sheath dress and black Ponte pants. It also looks great with the glitter flats.

My newest addition- this Noa Noa skirt - super versatile for my life and climate.

This thrifted Trelise Cooper skirt - such happy fun colours. It is fun to wear.

This older floral dress - it is flattering, comfortable and screams summer at me when I wear it.

My Mephisto platform sandals!! They have a narrower footbed than is typical for sandals, and are super comfortable. Very cute too. I’m a very happy camper.

- MM LaFleur Clooney pants. Fit perfectly, and I love the vented hem which elevates a "plain" pair of work pants

Fun thread! A pair of platform sandals, because I am feeling stompy again.

Bijou, those shoes are glorious. I love the detailing on the heel.

I think for me, definitely my blurple jacket which I bought from Marcs a few weeks ago. I'm reaching for it quite a bit as the temperature drops, and I feel happier whenever I am wearing for it. I love the bright colour and the comfort factor - it has stretch knit panels down the sleeves so I can move my arms freely.

I also bought a sapphire velvet skirt from Review today. Right now I have a post-shopping headache but I reckon it'll spark lots of joy for me over winter

What great joy sparkers all! Those glittery shoes are so fun, remind me of Dorothy's ruby slippers! I don't remember where I read this-but someone summed up the plot for Wizard of Oz as "2 women trying to kill each other over a pair of shoes"

Mine of course are the dresses-the new sunset tie dye and 2 PC dresses. Summer dresses make me far happier than all other sorts of clothes!

Jane and Mirjana - I can see these shoes being worn quite a bit because they just seem to work and whilst high by my standards, a 3 inch heel is not too bad for a formal shoe.

Katerina - what a timeless classic your new leather jacket is - such a beautiful colour and style! I can only imagine how amazing that will look on you.

KKards - your new hat is super cute. As a person who needs to wear hats regularly, I can understand your joy in finding one that is functional and that you love.

Angie - no matching bag...it has proved elusive. I am on the hunt. I found a very inexpensive place holder and will do a separate post on it - as now I am waiting for the perfect bag to come along. I need a dressy bag that can hold the largest size iPhone - not an easy task. I love that your entire wardrobe sparks joy, wardrobe nirvana.

Stirling - a ruby bag for the win! I am more of a bag girl than shoes, so I can perfectly understand the joy that comes from a great bag. In terms of number of wears, nothing can beat the functionality of a handbag.

In the past my spark joy items have been colorful prints. So I was quite surprised that my latest is a long casual navy tunic tee with sweatshirt styling- kangaroo pockets, hood, etc. It gives me a new silhouette (in the past I’ve felt dowdy in longer items over pants) but the navy over navy is working. Also perhaps combined with the lightweight fabrics. Count me surprised.

Fun post. Enjoying seeing people’s posts. Loving the leather jacket, Katerina. It fits my fantasy body and life.

Fun and festive shoes, Bijou! Gorgeous colours.

This weekend, I purchased four items that spark joy:
● A deep blue bathing suit (with classic Hollywood vibes) that I actually look and feel good in (which is very rare when it comes to beachwear)
● A striped sundress in happy colours and a simple but fun style (Bonus: Can also be worn as a long top and as sleepwear)
● Dressy white sandals that look and feel great on my feet (Very difficult to find. Most sandals, except Birks, don't suit my feet. And I really needed a more dressy pair)
● Red loafer ballets that I can wear in all four seasons (For me, red shoes always spark joy)

They were all surprisingly affordable, a fact whic adds to my joy, as I am on a budget.

Your shoes are so pretty! I’ve been thinking about this, most of this year’s purchases actually! I want to get to an Angie place where everything in my wardrobe sparks joy. I am not quite there, but close.
My first purchase this year was in late February, some green houndstooth leggings from Cotton On of all places. I’ve never bought from them before. I felt about 80 years old going in there as everyone else seemed to be teenagers practically. But I had seen the leggings online and am a sucker for houndstooth as I’ve said before! They’re quite warm and it is still too warm here to wear them yet, but I will.
Also the cobalt dress I intend to wear for my daughter’s wedding.

I had a bracelet made for my 45th birthday. It has a nugget of jade from Big Sur, California on a thin cognac leather strap.

I used to go camping, hiking, and beach combing in Big Sur several times a year when I lived in San Francisco. The nugget on the bracelet is one of the pieces I picked up on the beach and it reminds me of “home”.

Wow, I love those shoes! They will be perfect for black tie events, so much more fun than plain black.

My most recent purchase is some mules I got at Nordstrom Rack, I don't know if they spark joy but whenever I wear them they just feel really "me". And maybe my Skagen hybrid smart watch sparks joy. I love that it looks like a normal analog watch but that I can check my step count whenever I want.

Bijou, I recently bought one of the full (like, with a crinoline underneath) floral midi skirts from WHBM that Angie referenced on the blog, and shocked myself by loving it on me.

I tucked in a fitted tee and added sneakers. I *never* tuck anything in, ever, so the fact that I liked it added to the joy factor.

The diversity of winning items is so interesting! I've been refining my closet since retiring last year, so doing more editing and less adding. I'm so happy with the state of my wardrobe this year! 3 items from spring 2018 that have become big favourites - a red trench/raincoat (Nautica), a red wallet (Michael Kors), and a floral backpack (Hershel).

Yesterday was a cool rainy day and I was wearing a neutral outfit of blue jeans and grey sweater. I was going to throw on a jean jacket, but changed my mind and put on the red coat instead. It instantly lifted my spirits.
