I have come to accept that I will probably never find the studded Old Gringo boots I have been seeking hopelessly ever since I saw them in Santa Fe this spring (see pics 3-4), but I had to search the boot stores when I was in TX. I'm still obsessed and will not stop looking, but I'm not encouraged. They must have been a very limited item. If anyone sees them in a size 8, let me know!

On a return trip to the boot store (after one trip for the most utilitarian waterproof unfashionable work boots imaginable) I kept getting drawn back to these beauties. Hubs, always my enabler, encouraged me to get them. Oh, and the lady shopping there who said she was about to purchase her 25th pair of Old Gringo boots! She made me feel better about owning a third pair of cowboy boots. Ah, it's all relative.

I debuted them yesterday for a day of welcoming visitors at Open Studio and then walking across the inner harbor to have dinner and do a little window shopping. Happy to say that walking 4 miles on the first day of wearing new boots, they felt pretty darn good. I got a few compliments on them too -- I wore them with bootcut jeans, so the Tiffany blue peeking out was a nice subtle pop of color with the neutral outfit I wore yesterday.

I also realized that these go brilliantly with my new JCrew turquoise pea coat! Who knew that turquoise boots could be versatile??
