I hate carrying a handbag, so I like to keep my wallet in the waistband of my skirts, or under the belt when I wear a dress. My partner is always saying that this looks masculine and "I look like a tradie". What do you all think.....I really don't want to carry a handbag around!

I say, don't know what a tradie is. And also am curious as to how you keep your wallet from falling out?

But in any case, I'm with you 100%. I am completely hands free. I wear a hip purse, as opposed to a fanny pack. Or a crossbody if I must. I only carry handbags for special outings.

I had a friend who was robbed of her purse and she never carried one after that. She just kept a bit of cash, keys, and her drivers license in her pocket. She managed to make that work for her.

An I say, what's wrong with looking masculine? Seriously, if you feel okay about how it looks, and it works for you, end of story. The only reason I can think of for doing something different is if you work in a profession where people expect you to look and act a certain way in order to be considered "professional."

I think the less carried the better! I have been purchasing smaller handbags as I get older and putting less inside them. If I could get away with something tucked in my waistband I would happily do it. Unfortunately I always carry sunglasses, and some prescription rescue meds for migraines, so I need something large enough for these items at a minimum.

I don't know what a tradie is, but how can a person look masculine wearing a skirt or a dress? And anyway, if you don't mind the look, stick with what works for you.

But I would think worrying about a wallet falling about of a belt or waistband would be quite equally annoying to carrying something. I'm with the others...wallet on a wrist strap or a tiny cross-body bag.

For weekends, I have a wallet on a wrist strap.

It's good to carry less, I think, because it puts less strain on back muscles.

Never had any issue with it falling out. I tend to wear wider belts though.

I carry my wallet the same way, and for the same reasons as you - I like to be hands free.

But I think you have overlooked another reason - it also think it looks much nicer to have (especially) a nice wallet neatly tucked into your waistband (or belt) with just the top showing than to have a bulge in one of your pockets; or worse having the heavy wallet (or a purse strap) pulling your nice dress out of shape.

Absolutely the same for guys - As you said, many guys carry their wallets this way, but again, it looks waaay nicer than having their trousers pulled out of shape, or a giant "tumor" on their ass!

I have a collection of wide belts to wear with dresses solely for the purpose of having somewhere to put my stuff (phone in bra, wallet and keys under belt - nothing to carry!

So many alternative to carrying a purse. Most clothing I wear has pockets so I don't worry. I carry huge suitcases for purses.
