walking shoes for England

I am once again on a search for supportive shoes that are not too ugly for my annual trip to England which involves hours of walking a day.
I have a fairly cute pair of boho type shoes but wanted a different look to change things up a bit. (My husband insists that I get a new pair every year but this last pair has gone two trips.
I found these oxfords online.
I am thinking about the reddish color becuse I have both cognac and black oxfords, both of which are too thin soled for tons of walking.
Do you think oxfords will go out of fashion soon?
Should I look for a more classic type shoe?
What do you think of these?
I will be wearing boyfriend jeans, skinnies and casual dresses.
Possiby bootcuts.

They are very beautiful. Any idea if the footbed is padded? The sole looks a bit thin, but perhaps the padding is hidden?

One idea might be to buy a pair of soft leather Made In England Dr Martens and break them in before you go (by wearing them for a short time every day). As a Brit who easily walks 12 miles in a day, I have never found any shoe to beat the softer Dr Martens for comfort when walking such distances. The soles really are shock absorbing, it seems. I would love to know if anyone has any other ideas for similarly fabulous walking footwear. I do have other comfortable shoes for walking but nothing quite as good as Dr Martens.

Another idea might be to go to Office when you are in England. They have lots of flat and low-heeled high quality shoes that are not expensive. I bought a pair of super-soft leather flat oxfords there recently. (But again, in terms of the soles, nothing beats DMs for me.)

I seriously love those Naots, Jean. And I can't think of a shoe that is much more classic than an oxford. For what it's worth, my much uglier Naots are still my go-to shoe when I know that I'll be doing some serious walking.

Can I mention again how much I love that color and style I'd give those shoes some serious consideration.

These look perfect, give them a try. Sorry but no idea of the fashion whims of shoes.

Funnily enough I was out shoe shopping today for wet Europe and while none of them fit properly fell in love with these Wolky's...

I vote yay. Love the wine color combo. They look super comfy. My Naot sandals are good for walking miles in (though they have a thick wedge platform, so they may be better than these oxfords for cushioning on hard pavements). I should admit that I'm a sucker for oxfords. I like the masculine vibe of these. Not sure how well they'll go with dresses, but with the pants options, I think they'd be fab. I'm betting (hoping?) oxfords are going to be in style a while longer, especially given the trend toward slouchy trousers, which seem a good match with them.

OK, now that I've seen the wine pair, Jean, I'm totally smitten. If only Zappos still shipped to Canada... Seriously, I think the wine color would look fabulous with skinnies and with a dress. Why not give them a try to see how they feel on your foot?

Those are gorgeous, and Naots have a reputation for comfort. The reviews are certainly tops. I think oxfords will be around for awhile due to aging Baby Boomers increasingly fussy feet! What will change is the degree of clunkiness. Since those shoes are neither super clunky nor trendily pointy-toed, you should be safe for awhile.

I think Oxfords will always work in England, Jean! These suit your style beautifully, and NAOTS will have an internal structure to support and cushion your feet.

Oh, the red ones are gorgeous, and Naots are always reliably comfortable. I will warn you though that if you have low volume feet they may not work. I have tons of Naot boots and sandals, but the shoes don't work for me because they are too deep and the heel comes up too high on the back of my ankle, even with an orthotic. I have very low volume, flat feet though.

The brown oair would be super in a low contrast way with your closet. Like gaylene, i adore the wine ones. Both would are classics especially if they are comfy for hours of city walking.
