I may have mentioned here a few times only that the ultimate coat wish for me is: below-the-knees long down filled puffer coat with detachable hood. Basically, I picture myself walking around wrapped in some sort of duvet, pretty if possible. In an ideal world, with the hood on my head, the boots and the coat would overlap so that I am cocooned and thus protected from the chill and wind.

The details like the colour and the stitching would have been considered on a case by case basis… except that there were no cases in the past at all. The coats which somehow qualified as that elusive wearable duvet I had imagined in my head either did not tickle my fancy, or were too casual, or just too expensive.

I currently have a puffer coat, bought last year in July which had served me well in my first German winter, but it hits me just below mid-thighs and it does not have a hood. I can layer heavily under it - but still, it is not as long as I'd want my ideal coat to be. I'm happy I bought it stress-free (accidental find), but always knew it would be a good stop-point until that elusive perfect winter coat comes along.

Enter this coat which I would have completely missed had it not been for Astrid. That girl is dangerous for me.

I will just mention one detail about the coat which made my heart skip - one of the reviewers who gave it 2/5 was disappointed because "it is only for women over 1.75m".

Which translates to 5ft8.

That plus some more inches would be me, thank you!

I'll take one, thank you.

I went to the B&M shop in town but they had none of this style. Still, I tried on different coat to confirm the sizing and if the coat I want is TTS then it should be OK.

The fact it's black makes it perfect. The sleeves are not wide around the wrists, so the cold air cannot go in (I get very cold and this detail does make a difference to me). And it's probably as dressy as this sort of coat goes. And the fact it has nice, diagonal stitching is almost too good to be true.

I just hope when the parcel arrives the coat is actually cut to allow me to put it on comfortably, layers underneath, pearfect hips et. al. Since there is no sizing up for me, this is my one shot at it.

I will stick to PPP and will send it back if something does not work. The coat must make my heart sing when I put it on straight out of the box. Not a big ask, right?
