The '90s is my least favourite decade - too much head to toe black, grunge, dressy outfit severity, pull-on pant sloppiness, crocheted boho, and chunky soles on shoes. The overall vibe was ultra casual and less interesting/dressy/colourful than the '80s. I agree - generally a bland fashion decade.
That said, there was lots to love about the decade too. I LOVED checked shirts, power suits, 501s, low rise pants and jeans, short A-line skirts, natural hair, small shoulders and less pronounced make-up. The decade paved the way for outfit minimalism and simplicity which is a look close to my heart.
Btw, Docs are late '70s and '80s fashion to me. That's when the punk movement in Britain made the shoe a fashion statement. It's not '90s thing in my mind.
