Vote for a Coat: Red or White

So I have been eying this coat since it came out, and I'm looking for a couple investment pieces to put the proceeds of my clothing sales toward. What do you think? Red or White? (For the sake of argument, don't vote against white solely for the dirt factor. This would be an evening coat.)

Yay = Red
Nay = White

Colouring-wise (I'm going to use the u spelling around here as I honestly prefer it and "typo" with the u every time) my makeup artist friends say I am "neutral" and since I love colour, I am going with that as I can't think of many colours I look particularly awful (although I personally don't like very pale pastels).

And I saw the red in real life, but Neimans didn't order the white. Have you seen the white? Some reviews say it veers grey-tone instead of winter white. (And the red isn't really "red" either, but I still love it.)

Are you a brunette, brown eyes, light eyes, olive skin, fair skin?

Odd ball anomaly of dark brown almost black eyes and a natural mix of medium blonde and brunette. I sometimes play up the blonde with highlights in the summer and the brunette with lowlights in the winter. Basically I have never really known if I am blonde or brunette as even my arm/leg hair is both. *laughs*

Did you see the Red at Nordstrom? They told me they didn't order it, but sometimes they get mixed up. I would prefer to order from Nordstrom of course.

I loooove the red one, but as you know red is my colour If you can wear red, I think that is a much more fun colour than white.

I'm going to vote red because I am totally biased toward red in any circumstance. GORGEOUS COAT. I still don't have that other one out of my head.

I think both look divine. If I were picking for myself, I'd go for the white, because I love the look of that white for evenings, and it seems perhaps a bit more unpredictable than red. Also, with the white I'd never have to worry about how my outfit & accessories go with the coat, but that's just me.

I don't think you can go wrong with either color.

I have a gorgeous red coat and love wearing it but I get really tired of bright red after the holidays. The result is that I don't enjoy wearing my red coat much in January and early February when the weather is the coldest. I think I would go for the white for a nice lift in the dark winter cold.

Ooh, that's tough. Both are lovely. The only thing that makes me give a very slight edge to the white coat is that I was thankful my long evening coat was white when I wore a red gown to one of the Inaugural balls a couple of years ago. So I wasn't wearing red-on-red or two clashing reds.

That is a beautiful coat. Either way I want to see a pic when you get it so we can see it on!

I don't think you could go wrong with either, but my heart beats fastest for red. Only issue would be the "go with" one. But that would depend on the kind of things you usually wear...and also, red's a neutral. So it's really not the problem it might seem.

I have to say white, only because the combination of that coat with your black leather elbow length gloves causes palpitations.

For evening, I vote white, because then you can wear any color you'd like underneath. And for evening-type activities, I would probably put more weight on what's underneath (imagining going to a dinner party or out to a meal, here... somewhere you check your coat). Of course, if the coat will stay on the whole night, this is not an issue.

I vote red.

Red would be fantastic with your interesting hair and dark eyes. If you get tired of the coat for evening once the new wears off, red is more practical when it gets "demoted" to daily wear.

I really, really love that coat!

Sorry, but I love white for an evening coat, too! I would have to see the white and make sure it's a flattering one. Too bad you can't see what each color does for your skin tone. Also I had a bright red long wool coat years ago and really tired of the color long before it wore out.

I'll never forget opening my front door to my friend who was arriving at my Christmas party years ago. She had lovely dark hair and pale skin was wearing a white full length coat and was holding a red poinsetia as a gift for me. That beautiful picture is forever etched on my mind.
