Can anyone show me some images of graphic tee shirts being worn under jackets or cardigans in a stylish way?

I picked up a really cute graphic tee, and I'd like to be creative with it. Thanks!

I can't take pictures right now but it's pretty self explanatory. I wear mine under this trapeze jacket, so that the bottom peeks out the same way the tank does in the picture:

I also like to wear it under a black blazer, cropped cardigan, and under v-neck sweaters that tie back into some of the colors of the shirt (mine is a plummy purple with blue, white, and gold). Basically I just like to have bits of it sticking out from underneath another layer, so you can see the pattern and it dresses things down a bit. I just wear it like any other layering piece like a camisole or tank. I also REALLY love the idea of wearing it with a waistcoat or biker jacket. I'm keen on getting a waistcoat just for that purpose, even if it takes me forever and a day to find one that fits over my chest.

Hi, Nicole! I do this combination a lot, actually. The only photos I have are of our photo shoot last fall, but I wear this particular outfit frequently.

I have other graphic tees and wear them with jackets or cardigans with jeans or check pants, etc. I like throwing the pearls over it to give it extra punch.

Nicole for me the key is to make sure the graphic tees are slim fit, meaning they fit close against the body and are long enough to poke out the bottom.

Nicole, I think your best bet is going to be layering them with structured jackets (including a vest if you find one). Then you can either do jeans, microchecks, or even dressier pants for something a bit different. It might even work for skirts as long as the shirt can be scrunched up for skirt shirt length. Can't wait to see you rock this look!

Another thought, maybe you could try the tee without a cardigan or jacket too and pair it with a long summer-weight scarf (wrap it around your neck once and let the ends dangle). It's another look that I quite like, just so you don't get bored;-)

I forgot to include this one. I especially like it because of the neutral colour palette and the dress pants (good point Patience!). There's something very appealing and modern about the combination of a casual graphic tee paired with dressy pants.

There are tons of great ideas in there, Inge! Wow. You're amazing. I never thought to try my graphic tee with my plaid pencil skirt. I'm going to give that one a shot. Maybe with the dreaded coloured tights, even. Heh. And I love that ruffled halter vest! Sweet.

OK, here's what I came up with today. It's not quite a funky as I was hoping though. If it was a bit warmer out, I'd have worn my baby blue Converse. (please ignore the hair, I was on my way for a haircut and saw no point in doing anything else to it).

I don't really have any structured jackets that are not "suit-ish". And wearing a jacket under a winter coat is uncomfortable and impractical, IMO...so I went for a cropped cardi. I like the idea of a vest (when the weather warms up).

Is the cardi too cropped? Should I try a bolder color than black?

Nicole-So cute! The outfit will look good with the Cons when the weather cooperates but your beautiful red boots work great. I don't think the cardi is too cropped and I like the black with the other colors.

I also like the new picture taking location! We have a similar looking space in our house that displays my husbands guitars-I think 5 right now.

Nicole, this looks awesome - fun & casual! I love the necklace too. I was really eager to see how you would do this so I could copy. I kept thinking that you have to do a crew next tee which is not the most flattering look for me and of course so many graphic tees seem to have the "graphic" part right across the chest. You've really found the perfect way to make it work for your (and mine) body type. I'll have to dig in my closet and see if I have any graphic v-necks.

I don't think the cardi is too cropped - you want to see some of the t-shirt print below it. If you wanted to be funkier, you could try another color cardi - how about purple or a fuschia?

Love it! The tee looks great with that necklace. The cardi is just-right length because it shows off the tee. You look uber-slim in this outfit - and i really like your hair pulled up. The black color doesn't bother me at all - it looks sophisticated on you - but you know me, I like black

Hmm... I just think black is a great color on you. It is a great counterpoint to your hair color and your skin tone. You'd still want a pop of color somewhere (like you do here with the tee, and the shoes) but I like black on you a lot. Hmm... the gray dress was amped up with a dark cardi ... hmmm... maybe you should go with deeper, darker colors (not necessarily black) rather than lighter colors? IMO, they suit you really well.

I do like the idea of a more structured jacket with this, but completely understand about the coat issue (struggling with that myself lately....grrr, winter!). Again, this just means you have lots of options with this top.

Those jeans are fantastic - which ones are those? And the shoes... well you know already I love them.

Donna, the new picture location was due to the fact that my daughter was home to take the photo. Otherwise I have to balance the camera on a half wall. I figured I'd give you guys something else to look at for a change.

Marianne, Nope never did anything about the red boots. The mar is very small and probably only noticeable to me--but I was disappointed in that. It happened to both boots, so I think it's a defect of the boot.

Shiny, These jeans are Gap. I tried to duplicate them, but they don't make this style anymore. I'm glad you approve of the color black on me. I am going to be on a hunt for a structured sort of cropped jacket now.

Thanks Nicole, I was just curious. I have the same issue with one boot and you're probably right about it being a defect. I just hope it doesn't get worse since I would love for them to last.

What a great casual outfit, Nicole! This is along the lines of what I do for typical weekend days, e.g. a mix of hanging around the house, visiting with close friends, running errands etc. I don't have such a cute tee, usually I just throw a cardi or v-neck sweater over a cami in a different color and add a scarf in lieu of a necklace, but the idea is the same. I'd love to find a cute tee as well.
