Vince T-neck update ETA: Order Cancelled

So. I ordered the Vince t-neck in both "espresso" and black in XS from Canada.

Although my SA told me Ottawa did not have it in stock, I just got notice that they have processed my order for it at the Rideau Centre.

Sounds promising, no?

NO.

Guess what the price in CAD was?

$245

You read that right. For ONE t-neck.

I am sorry to say that it will be going right back, no matter how it looks on me. I just can't justify that in my budget.

US fabbers -- if anyone has an xs in either size, please, please, please let me know.

ETA: They cancelled my order -- I don't know if I should be relieved or sad!! No Vince T-neck arriving from the Rideau Centre after all.

Still waiting for news about Aquatalia booties (please, please, please I hope they send those!!) and the Dres. No information on either of those yet.

I tried to order it-it's no biggy as I live near a store. It says:

Backordered Item: Your current size, color and store combination will ship on or around 08/10/2016.

Don't understand the store part as I didn't say store pickup.
Should I go ahead or do you want to see if someone has it in hand who doesn't want it?

Thanks for commiseration all. It must mean that it is not part of the Canadian sale because they did not apply a promo. But honestly....that price!!

Even doing the calculations it makes no kind of sense at all. If it were on sale it should be approximately $135 CAD, which is still a huge amount, but considering my two Vince boat neck tees are workhorses of my winter closet, and still in fantastic shape going into their 3rd year, and not likely to date, I know the CPW on this type of item would go down for me over time. But not $245!!!

Ha, you've just hit on my biggest frustration with NAS. I checked into ordering that sweater online and, once duties and $CAN were figured into the mix, that Vince t-neck, which cost a YLFer $90 US, would be a $175 t-neck once it was delivered into my hot little hands. Less than the $245 regular price in the Canadian Nordies stores to be sure, but still a pricey modal jersey t-neck in my books. If the modal fibre started pilling or snagging, I'd be sorely upset.

The question I keep wrestling with is could I find an equally nice modal jersey t-neck in Canada for under $175 at Holts or a higher end boutique? Or, gasp, even a less expensive modal t-neck at some of the other shops? The two modal T-shirts I bought on a whim at Aritzia, on sale, for $40 each have been workhorses all summer and have held up beautifully.

My secret wish is we could convince Angie to move an hour north to Vancouver so she could exercise her skills and talents in Canada. That would be be shopping Nirvana!

I prefer the S. The neck and sleeves from bicep all the way down are way to tight on me in the XS.

I think I will wait to see what C1 turns up. If nothing, I may just send the one that is supposedly coming to me straight back to where it came from and use that money elsewhere! It feels like too much, even though I really love and have had good value from my Vince boat necks.

Gaylene, so far, I'm not seeing any clear or obvious pattern on the pricing. Some of the Canadian sale price items are pretty much an exact equivalent, i.e. convert US $ to CAD $ and that is the CAD listed price. And if you are not adding duties, or delivery costs (since delivery and returns are free within Canada if you get from a Canadian Nordstrom's store) it seems worth it to try on some of these items -- for me, in my shopping wilderness, that is.

For instance, the rag & bone gilet is pretty much an exact US/ CAD (i.e. add 35% to US sale price and that is the CAD sale price.) It is still a very pricey item for me, and maybe not worth it that kind of money, but at least I can examine it at leisure without worrying about delivery costs and extra duty in addition to a trip to the US and a rushed decision at the border (though I do have to factor in HST, of course).

The Minkoff bag does not look to be as good a deal, that is if I understood my bill correctly. I will take a closer look when it arrives and look at comparables before sending back.

Ahhh the gilet ! That is my favorite item from the sale but it is not in my price range after the exchange. Beautiful though...

I love most everything Staysfit is purchasing... the Boss items look fantastic... She is my wardrobe idol.

I am from the East Coast of Canada and I don't imagine a US chain like this will ever make it here. Ottawa - a 2 hour plane ride would be the closest for us.

I had never heard of Nordstrums before this blog. It is on my bucket list to someday walk into this store- somewhere. But could I do it ? Purchase a gilet for over $500 ? Probably not... but the temptation would be there.

I am anxious to see your picks Suz and am excited about all the Annual sale buzz.

But yes, I don't think Nordstrom's will open a branch in Halifax any day soon.

The thing is -- you can phone in an order to a Canadian store and have it shipped for free. That's what Elizabeth P and I have both done.

I'm going to check to see if it is a mistake -- but it's possible it's not on sale here. They will surely adjust if it is an error. But I'll wait until it arrives before I start squawking. Maybe it won't even fit or I won't even like it well enough to want it at the sale price!

All I got is a bra and undies, Suz. LOL I'm not feeling at all organized for fall yet so I guess I'm just not feeling it.

The store was busy but not crazy like when it first opened. A SA at Lululemon said people were lined up before the store opened.
