Blah. The VS Boyfriend jeans arrived today and they're not for me.

They just look schlumpy on my short legs. Too long, too loose in the top, rise too low.

My son said it pretty well: "They just look like they don't fit."

The whole slouchy boyfriend chic is just a look I think I'm going to have to let pass. On me, it might be better to get a regular, ankle-length straight leg or a sized-up ankle skinny and roll it up.

I go for a much slimmer BF cut than a lot here (thighs, always the thighs) and it seems to work for me. Have you tried the True Religion Cameron in a size down?

Too bad they don't work. I hope you find something that works for you. Like Mo, I also went for a slimmer BF jean. Mine are Levi's straight leg jeans, which, unfortunately, still don't fit so I don't have any recent photos.

Thanks, Mo. I don't think BFs will ever be my go-to jeans so I was hoping to find a pair that weren't an investment.

Actually, I have a teenaged boy upstairs -- I suppose I could just borrow his jeans. If they're going to look big and schlumpy, might as well be free!

Emily, that might be exactly what I need -- not the real deal, but a nod to the style. That could be perfect.

And hee hee -- for laughs, I just tried on my son's jeans. As tall and skinny as he is, it was like standing in a flower pot. Those boys just have different proportions.

funny story, I used to love my ex's Levi's until I split the thigh seam (oops!) in the mid to late 90's. They were looser everywhere but somehow held in my upper thighs 'just so'. Must have been how they formed on his thin frame over years of wear. Looked for years for a similar fit and never found them.

Yes, mine were regular women's Levi's. I just made sure I bought them looser than normal. Not really BF, just not super snug. Like Emily says, they are more a nod to the style. I don't like the super slouchy look on me since the "rear view" is important to me (and DH).

Not sure if they are really boyfriends but I have had good luck sizing up in skinny jeans. For example getting size 6 in Kut from the Kloth instead of my usual size 2. I think skinny jeans can be rolled more easily than straight ones.

April, take a look at Jag Jeans Skinny Boyfriend. I have 3 pairs and prefer their loose-yet-fitted style. They were on sale too at 6pm.com last time I checked.

The ones recommended by Aquamarine may work, though -- the inseam is only 25", so the rolling should be more feasible.

I have two pairs of BFs that I love, but guess what? They're not really boyfriends. They are straight legged jeans sized up one size. They are slightly loose in the waist (my biggest part) but there's no way they could actually slip down. I had them hemmed really long so I can wear them unrolled with lots of slouch. And of course I can wear them rolled up.

I have very thin thighs and flat hips, and real boyfriends look ridiculous on me. As your son said, "They just look like they don't fit." I suggest you try straight legged jeans or skinnies sized up. And don't give up. It took me forever to find mine.

I like your post title. I am not on the BF wagon either. Almost ordered a pair from Gap but did not go through. I just don't "think" they will work for my straight hips and small frame. But of course I never tried a pair on yet.

I am a big fan of baggy BFs but I have the Gap ones in several sizes and the smallest are quite trim. They used to come in P sizes also - haven't bought recently but still ADORE my old pairs.

I'm confused by those who are saying BFs don't work on their slim hips -- BFs are cut like guys' jeans, and guys have slim hips! I think they're way harder to fit for those of us with excess hip and thigh. On me the thighs aren't even loose and the waist is enormous.

April, the jag jeans are very slim through the lower leg, which works for those of us with skinny calves. The length is good on my 5'4" self, too...not quite full length boyfriends.

I know, Janet -- it seems like "boy" jeans would work great on straighter figures. It's weird how these things work. My son couldn't be more of a beanpole, and I was drowning in his jeans.

I guess if real men's jeans worked as "boyfriends" there would be a big retail hole that the women's jeans companies would have to fill somehow. Perhaps by making skinnies even skinnier ("Life Support Fit!").
