Vest over SS top - best lengths?

Are there guidelines for the best length of a top worn under a vest? It seems somewhat akin to a jacket, but because the vest has no sleeves the visual effect is probably a bit different. What are the best proportions for the underlayer? I love a cropped vest over a long top, but not sure how to negotiate the right look (not that I have such a vest at the moment!)...

Hmm good question. I think there's a lot more leeway with vests than jackets as far as those lengths go. If you look at the examples in Angie's post a day earlier, the lengths are all over (both the tops and the vests themselves). For me, the bottoms actually play a bigger role in determining what the top length should be.

Agreeing with Aida. If the bottom is full, a cropped vest seems easier to wear. If the outfit is sleek, longer ones work too. It may also depend on the stiffness of the vest fabric.
