April, yes! I keep seeing spaghetti strap velvet tops. Makes no sense for the way I want to wear velvet -- plus my spaghetti strap days are long behind me!

Spaghetti strap velvet tops. Good grief. I don't even know what to compare that to in terms of silliness -- down-filled bathing suits?

Cold-shoulder puffers?

Sandal snow boots?

Love it. have worn various velvet items over the years. currently I have black velvet pants and a velvet jacket, also black. Have not worn either of them for a few years, but have hang onto them. I will be wearing the pants (flares) with a white sweater, and maybe trying something different by wearing them with a plaid shirt. I will wear the jacket with jeans, admaybe over my grey fit and flare dress.

I like velvet, but I don't have any and don't expect to see any that would make sense in my wardrobe.

Love it! Not a "trend" to me - a true classic, I love this time of year because that's when all the velvet goodies are stocked.

I like it, and would love to add a velvet blazer to my collection.

I like texture so naturally like velvet, so long as it is not black.

I don't have any velvet, but am open to it if it's not too dressy. I am liking this dress from soft surroundings. It is short sleeve and doesn't look too heavy. What do you guys think of this?

I have a green velvet blazer and skinny scarf from last year. I had a lilac jacket that I passed on because it was too stiff. I like texture mixes, which makes velvet a good choice in my book.

Oh yea, I also have a couple of velvet t-shirts.

April, I might wear a down-filled bra. But not as outerwear!!

I love to look at velvet and I like the feel of it, but I don't own any. I live in the country fried middle of nowhere, and our lifestyle is very casual and relaxed, so it just isn't practical for me.

I had forgotten velvet's allure until Annagybe posted those yummy pale examples, and wow did I ever fall hard for those! I'm still trying to decide between a vanilla velvet shirt and a lilac shirtdress, but meanwhile I've been digging into the back of the closet for some older black velvet pieces--a fitted boatneck top and a little mandarin-collared jacket with frog closures. Thinking of pairing the top with a blue, black, & white leopard print gathered skirt from DVF. The jacket could look new with jeans, I think. This should be fun!

Not on team velvet. But ooooohhhh what Angie said about suede being her velvet. I'm so on board with that.

I'm in the love camp now that I've found my perfect combination; crushed velvet in metallic gunmetal used on a maximal bomber jacket with pops of yellow/orange AND a dragon. What's not to like?

One of my favorite jackets is vintage deep purple velvet. I never stopped wearing but will enjoy being trendy this year.

Ann, that jacket is amazing!

I love velvet. Unfortunately I can't wear any that I have right now.

I've a pair over overalls, and slacks and a book red vintage jacket.

I'm enjoying velvet. I've ordered a pair of velvet pants and a velvet blazer and will probably get a velvet choker. I like a little velvet in the winter.

I had one chocolate brown and one berry coloured velvet blazer in the 90's. Now I'll enjoy it on others, but if a nice piece crosses my way I might get it. Angie taught me to keep an open mind, but I won't be hunting for velvet. I like the velvet tops from Boden, though.

I love velvet, and especially velvet jackets. It is a terrible lint magnet though, especially if it is natural (made from cotton or silk) so if you have pets, better to stay away from black and blue ... ask me how I know. But it is so elegant that it is worth some fuss.

I love velvet and usually have a few items in my wardrobe. I once had a full length black velvet dress that was amazing, it was so slimming. Currently I have two velvet coats (one a dark floral print and the other textured in a rose colour), two velvet jackets (one raspberry in a smoking jacket style and the other midnight blue) and a black velvet top.

I love velvet. I'm still looking for a replacement for my vintage velvet skirt, years later. But I don't like most of the velvets I've seen right now, most of them look kind of cheap (probably because they are) and don't feel all that nice to the touch.

I love velvet (and suede). I don't own any velvet clothing right now. I hope to change that. The cover for my duvet is velvet.

love love love velvet, but haven't wear any yet this year.....i do have a black velvet tee from years and years ago that i'm just waiting for the right time to wear again.....maybe thanksgiving!

This thread is making me want a badge to award that means "I AM GETTING INSPIRED" by what you wrote.

Yoo hoo, Greg...

A few years back, I had found two J Crew velvet blazers in a consignment shop at a great price. Really nice velvet with heavy satin lining. One deep eggplant, one chocolate brown. Of course, they left me during a closet purge.

You don't know how much I wish I had ignored my over-purger tendencies and held onto them.

Count me in as another velvet fan. I have held on to a couple of old pairs of velvet pants in various cuts, and am very glad for that. I had to get rid of my two velvet blazers as they were deemed too dated by the forum, and would love appropriate affordable substitutes. I did get a spaghetti-strap velvet top, which is really a cami to me, and I plan to wear it as such anyway: peeking under deeper v-cuts, such as the wrap cardigan below. It will ertinly be warmer and prettier than usual cotton cami.

In case you're young enough that this is your first velvet rodeo -- keep it very far away from your iron. Velvet and irons do not mix, and the damage cannot be reversed.

I like a small dose of velvet, a skinny scarf would be optimal for my style.

I would be tempted by a velvet cami, I would layer it over a fine gauge jersey polo neck and wear some statement vintage earrings for a retro look.

High street velvet can be hit or miss, why are some items crunchy and yet others are too thin and slippery?
