VC skirts and linen tee ?

I've already got a few of the VC midi tube skirts languishing in my closet and am thinking that I really don't need a casual midi dress after all. My question is whether pairing the skirt with a linen tee will work. (My cotton tees all need refreshing and read too casual for the skirts to my eye.) If you think it's worth a try, would you opt for a color (like the bright orange)or stick with black/white with the striped skirt?

A linen t sounds like a good pairing to keep the casual vibe going, and you could toss on a denim jacket when you needed extra coverage.

Thanks, lisa! I've worn them with a sleeveless crossover blouse but that definitely feels too dressy for what I want for summer and the Uniglo tees from last summer see too casual (especially since they are looking rather worn.)

I think the proportions would work well. The main trouble I have with darker skirts or pants and the lighter summer top colors (esp. white) is the "grinning" , which I don't like. This is for untucked tops, of course. So that steers me to black or navy or a deep color ( I even have a raspberry linen T that "grins", though).

Yes! I did this all the time last summer. I like the casual vibe from the linen and I think the looser, drapier fit of a linen tee is a nice contrast over the bodycon skirt.

I can only find 2 pics right now but i know I also wore this skirt with my black linen tee. The polka dot tank in #2 is linen, and I layered the cropped sweater over it, so that's another option.

ETA: Obviously there is grinning in the first outfit with the light top. It doesn't bother me.

I absolutely plant to sport this look. I have two striped knit skirts one really bold and one more subtle than yours. I plan to wear colored tops with both. You seem ok with color and print so I think you should try a color!

I have a similar striped tube, and wear it mostly in summer with a black mix media short sleeve top (front is wowen silky sateen, back is regular tee fabric).I find these combo on the smarter side of the tube outfits. I also have this top in coral/orange and sometimes they also work. A fluid linen tee is a great ideea for more casual looks, but I usually have to change up type of fabrics between top and bottoms for achieving a look I like. Otherwise, completely agree, why having a striped maxi dress, when can do with a tube and top, too:-)

Also, these are not linen tops but if you wanted more inspiration for things to wear with the striped skirt... I know you have mesh handknit/crochet tops like mine in #1, and the big drapey tee in #2 is also fun.

I think it would be great - love the examples so far. Green, bright yellow and other colors could also be fun with the black and white stripe.

I'm looking for a boxy opaque white cotton top/tee to wear with midi skirts (including tube skirts) something that is 'cropped' but not short enough to show skin, because I like how it works with the high waist of the skirt. I haven't yet figured out about the sleeves though -- as boxy sleeves don't always work as well to my eye unless one has narrow shoulders.

Thanks for asking this Kelly! I also bought one for fall, and only wore it once or twice; it does seem like a warmer weather piece for me and I haven't had many ideas for it yet. I bought the regular instead of the petite so it's too long and I'm pretty sure must always be worn with heels :\ Diana, I love all the photos you shared! Particularly liking the one with the big drapey tee.

I totally wear colors with mine. I like purple and emerald green. I have an emerald asymmetrical-hemmed woven/knit blend top that I can't wait to wear with this shirt. Chambray is nice, too.

I think it would be great. I personally can't wear those skirts that way as they accentuate everything about my bod that I'm not comfortable with. But if I could, I would!
