VC midi skirt - size up or down (pics included)?

I got this Angie-recommended midi skirt in two sizes (S and M). I love it, it is extremely comfortable, but I cannot figure out which size to keep. S (#1) is a perfect fit and pretty body-con, M (#2) is a bit looser fit. Anyone else who owns this skirt, how did you decide on the fit/size?

I have to say, they really do not look much different to me. The small is slightlly shorter, I think? I prefer it.

What's the fabrication? If it's something like cotton that's apt to shrink when washed, I'd go with the larger size. It's really hard to tell the difference in the photos, honestly, so I'd go with the one that you feel more comfortable in.

Yes, that's the trouble - they don't look much different, just feel a bit different.

It's a soft knit fabric, which is probably why they look almost the same.

Laura has a good point. I think the larger size looks slightly more relaxed from the back, which I like. It's a great skirt, love the stripes on you, and it looks lovely with the denim shirt.

I say the larger - if it shrinks a little in the wash you will still be ok.

I can't tell the difference except the length... Ceit is right, unless you think this is a skirt that will stretch out as you wear it, and get baggy in the behind. In which case, I say get the small

I don't see much difference, but I think I would go with the larger size for comfort.

Does one of them have a waist that hits you at a preferred spot? I sized up in an Old navy skirt like this to get a little extra ease and length but then found the waist so large that I could only wear it on my hips.

Claire, that's a really good point - I guess I need to wear it around the house with the tags on to figure out whether slides down or rides up over time.

The good news is, these skirts are only $25 on sale now so I can afford to hold on to both until I can make a decision.

I have two of these skirts -- not the striped (but I LOVE the striped!) -- mine are from last year and are navy and cobalt. Both are xs but I found the cobalt one is a bit more snug than the navy, for unknown reasons. They fit quite body con on me through the hip/ rear, although the waist of the navy one is a bit loose.

But they do not ride up or down, they do not shift around when I walk, they do not bag out, and in short, they do not bother me at all. I love wearing them. They are easy to dress up, easy to dress down, easy to pack, and comfortable to walk in, despite being narrow midis. The fabric snaps back pretty well, with some minor wrinkling in the knee area because I am such a strider. They are not too hot, and yet I don't freeze when I am wearing one in air con, either. In short, they are the perfect summer skirt.

Both of these sizes look good on you. Take the one that feels best, and wear, wear, wear!

I can't tell much difference from the pictures, but with mine the deciding factor was the side view and the amount of derriere "cupping".
If you're planning to wear it for work I'd probably go with less body-con.

What Suz said (basically!). I own two of these skirts as well and I LOVE them. They hold up so well, don't stretch out much, and wash up easily.

Mine are both Small and I normally wear a 4 or 6 if that's any help. My advice is to go with the bigger size if you feel the slightest bit uncomfortable with the body con-ness of the smaller size. You could always have the waist taken in a bit if it's a little too big as long as the rest of the skirt fits well.

I don't have one of these skirts (yet!), but looking at your photos - I can barely tell the difference between the two, and would vote for the larger size just for comfort's sake if you're choosing between the smaller and slightly larger size.

In the meantime, the skirt (in either size) looks great on you! Definitely keep, just a matter of deciding which size you'd prefer.
