Vacation purchase plus trip pics

I just returned from a week in Arizona, hiking and taking photos. Stylewise not very interesting, since I wore gear the whole time, but as I often do, I acquired one new piece of jewelry for my collection. I like keeping an eye out for jewelry on my travels because the piece holds a memory of the trip, it’s easy to pack, and always fits!

I found this necklace in a nice shop in Williams, AZ, one of the main Route 66 stops. Lots of great old signs and nostalgic design to be found there. Plenty of tourist sights as well. This necklace called to me even though I usually go for a ring. The colors in the stone and the unusual setting especially appealed to me. The SA even changed out the chain to give me one that is fully adjustable so I can easily wear it at different lengths.

Bonus pics from my exploring. A week goes by so fast! It’s getting hot out there already so I mostly stuck with higher elevations like Sedona. I would have loved to return to Tucson and Saguaro National Park, but temps over 100 are a bit much for me.

What a fab trip! I've been to almost every site you mentioned - when I first met DH his parents had already retired from MA and were living in Sedona. For many years we made fabulous weeklong visits every December. My FIL adored the weekend all-you-can-eat brunch buffet breakfast at Tlaquepaque - he loved to eat and the food was great. We've gone back quite a few times since DH's parents passed away. The desert blooms are particularly spectacular, as I recall from a daylong hike in the Sonoran Desert. You were lucky to be there at the right time, or maybe you planned for it! I've bought jewelry and artwork in that area that are among my favorites. After returning from one trip I bought small prickly pear cactus plants for my garden - I found ones that grow in my climate and they are still going strong.

Now you've inspired me to get out one specific "old metal" necklace and wear it Thanks for posting!!

Gorgeous pictures! Although I’ve been to Arizona several times, I’ve never been to these places. It’s funny, years ago we were in Chicago and we went to Oak Park and saw all of FLW’s homes. Our county’s civic center where I grew up was designed by him and it was hard to believe the same person designed them all, but obviously his style evolved.

I’ve have a similar style necklace, with different stones. I should get it out and wear it.
