(Utterly ) OT - My art - could you help me decide which to display?

Hi Everyone

I've been going about creating art for a few months and am really excited that two of my artworks will be going on display in a library in Brisbane for the month of August. They will there purely for display and aren't for sale as it's a community minded endeavour the library allows for local artists. Pretty cool, huh?!

The problem is that I am unsure of which artworks to display and I'm really scared of making a fool of myself. For some reason, I'm fine with cyber people looking at what I've being creating, but feel quite freaked out about people who know me and live in my local community seeing first hand my little artistic "wonders" (she says, tongue in cheek).

As such, I thought I'd ask for some outside help - YOU guys, to help me choose which are going to do me the most justice!

If you don't mind, I would really love it if you could have a quick look and vote for the one or two of my artworks which catch your eye - or make you cringe the least - to go on display. The poll will close on Sunday.

For anyone who has a look and who votes, THANK YOU so much for helping me decide, I really do appreciate it. I'm *so* nervous, but so excited all at the same time!

PS: For any real artists out there, please forgive me. I fully agree that I still have my "L" plates on, but I figure I have to start somewhere, right?!
PPS: I am so embarrassed that my poll contains a grammatical typo and goodness knows how many other mistakes are in the post. Please forgive me, I have a really nasty cold and my head is on back to front. Doh!

Clever you! I'm very impressed. I don't think you need feel worried about displaying any of these. In your place I'd be inclined to display the ones that you think are most 'you'.

Well done, Kate! You shouldn't be embarrassed at all -- your paintings are lovely! I just voted. I particularly like the sunflowers and the landscape. You say you're going to add leaves to the landscape, but I think it's great as it is.

BTW, if you make art, you are a "real" artist. No ifs or buts.

Thank you so much for voting everyone, I'm really chuffed that you've taken the time to have a look and choose your favourite.

I've been amazed by the variety of responses and reactions from people - there are two clear winners so far, but a couple of others seem to be gaining ground, so it will be interesting how it ends.

I promise I will let you all know the two "winners" once my poll officially closes on Sunday!

I voted! I know just how you feel re. feeling vulnerable! It's intense to put yourself out there for the world to judge, but it's so wonderful too! Congrats on the show.

Thanks for understanding Tara and Jonesy - I have to admit I alternate between feeling delighted that people have taken the time to vote and cringing that I've been bold enough to actually ask for direct feedback. Believe it or not, I'm not actually a person who tends to have a "look at me!" type persona in real life - I'd rather be to the side of the centre front!

Still, this latest "endeavour" has made me realise that for my own personal growth and development (and I mean as a person, not just as a wannabe artist), it's a good thing for me to "put myself" out there and try and do things I've never done before - even if it feels terribly uncomfortable or downright scary (as it does right now).

And Tara, I have to say how it is so funny how different our perceptions of ourselves ~vs~ that of others can be - I seriously can't believe that someone as clever and as articulate as you could ever have any trepidation seeing your work in print. Wow!

Anyway, enough waffling from me. I really need to go and work on my Landscape painting - it's looking like it is going to be one of the winners, and that means I need to finish it pronto!
