Using Angie's picks to direct my shopping

Angie has said before that she sows the seed of an idea but it's up to us to figure out how to implement it. Here are some of her picks, and how I found my own versions.

1) The Only Mine Zip Back Sweater didn't drape well from my sloped shoulders.

2) The Valette Sweater was too tight and too long for my torso.

3) The solution for my body was the JCrew Tippi sweater in a shade of purple that was much more flattering than the OM sweater and a better fit than the Valette sweater.

4) I admit I didn't even try the Vince Striped Boatneck Top as it was out of my knit top budget.

5) In Zara, I gravitated towards this olive/black striped top and didn't realize until after the fact that I had been subconsciously influenced by Angie.

Thank you Angie, for being the voice in the back of my head when I shop.

Exactly, Sylvie! That Only Mine sweater was overwhelming on me, but it made me realize that I wanted a boxy sweater and a purple sweater, so I bought these, from the Loft, inspired by her pick. The first is on sale for $20 at the moment.

The OM sweater worked on me. I wanted the Vince top but missed the boat, just didn't act quickly enough. Angie's recommendations also serve to introduce me to new brands: Vince and Vince Camuto are two examples.

Me, too! I have a lot of voices in my head, and she is my fave!

@Caro: Those of us in the US are lucky to be able to shop Angie's recommendations directly. I think Imogen from InsideOutStyle is an Aussie though and she may have local recommendations on her site.

So exciting! I love to see how others interpret fashion advice, and Angie's suggestions are all so impeccable - but maybe not always achievable for everybody one way or the other. I love your alternatives, Sylvie. It is much more satisfying to choose something that is the result of some critical thinking, and not only go with the suggestions as given.

Caro, I live far away from the US too, and I always have to look for alternatives to Angie's picks. Necessity is the mother of invention, right? We just have to be even more creative with our wardrobes than the Americans;)
