Natalie (Goldenpig) posted a thread about the Kate Spade 75% off sale today only (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....th-on-sale) and the handbag I've been eyeing for two months is one of the items in this sale - http://www.katespade.com/desig.....lt,pd.html. With international delivery, it would cost $218.

Is this something I break SYC for?

If I remember correctly, you said the only thing you really need are some soft blouses, right?
In that case, I would pass. There will always be some gorgeous item on a good sale.

Is your colorblock black and white graphic bag leather or is it plastic?

It is on sale but it is still not "cheap." I am on the fence.

I guess my main question would be whether the $200 is going to break the bank? If not then it is kind of up to you how you feel about cheating on the SYC. Will it open the floodgates as it were? And is that ok? If it IS going to break the bank it isnt worth it for a handbag... or any clothes item IMHO

Are you ok? This does kind of feel like an emergency. Perhaps a little shopping break would be good for all of us. Shopping should be fun. It shouldn't give us heart palpitations.

Bumping so that you see I was wrong about the drop on the handle - I'd read the description wrong - the depth is 2.7", not the drop. Sorry about that!

Beautiful bag, and very tempting to break SYC. But could you get two other beautiful bags on sale at some other time? I mean, they aren't going to be Kate Spade, but how much does the "KATE SPADE" factor matter to you?

VC - interesting because the website says that the drop is 11"? - ooops, I see we posted at the same time! Actually the size of this handbag is perfect.

Rita - the colour blocks are actually light grey, cream and midnight so not a black and white duplicate. But I certainly get where you're coming from!

I feel your pain, but I would skip it. This and the one you have are different color block colors, I understand. BUUUUT everyone says no prob mixing black and navy. If you already have a black color block purse, this is a duplicate, no matter how cute! Color block is a trend that will wane, or at least enough of one that buying a second, very similar, color block item while on SYC doesn't make sense. I vote hold out!

I also vote Nay. It is so similar to your B/W bag that I really don't think this will truly expand your wardrobe options.

I KNOW that pain you are feeling, but IMO this is not a wardrobe hole and not the time to give in. :T

This is just not a good day. May was not a good month to do this in....I got "invitations" today for Nordstrom's half year sale and the Brahmin 3 day tent sale AND my gift certificate to Boden for Mother's Day arrived in a beautiful package today. YIKES !

So what do you want me to tell you again ??? LOL !

I think you made the right decision. There will always be something on sale that we love, but if it does not fill or hole or meet a need, we can learn to walk away. I am starting to practice just that by starting my own SYC.

Wow - I'm impressed Shannon! Go you!!! I think it sounds like you already have a colour-blocked leather bag, so this wasn't a 'need to have' in any way, even though it's beautiful.

That's a good test - whether or not you'd feel "heartbroken" if you skipped it. A nagging sort of 'want' is no big deal, in the end. Right?

Come to think of it, there are very few items I'd feel heartbroken about if I skipped them or passed them by.

Good for you for talking yourself out of it.. The "Japanese Floral" scout bag was on sale for $99 last night (no longer in stock) and I was SO tempted. We just need to keep reminding ourselves that there is always something new and exciting out there to buy and try to (mostly) stick to filling wardrobe holes.

I will say that I have not had fab luck at the KS sample sales. The items are nonreturnable and on four separate occasions they have not fit quite right/not been exactly what I expected. So I have given up buying expensive items that can't be returned, even at a super discount, unless I have seen them live and in person first.

I've had some luck but yes, I no longer buy anything unless I've seen it first. The trench I bought before it went on final sale and I had tried it at the store in February. I have bought a total of three purses and two wallets on the KS sample sale, but yes, it is a gamble.

I am very happy with the two wallets and 2 out of the three purses: A crossbody bag and a tote I'm using as my computer bag. The remaining item was a failed attempt at a computer bag. The computer did not fit, in spite of checking measurements. I like the bag nevertheless but I'm planning to sell it on ebay.

I think you made a wise decision.
