I have to agree, Una. I'd reserve urban for something grittier.

...But urban provides a needed vowel for catchy acronyms....

Not to revive a deadish thread, but since it's bumped already, I have to add that to me, "urban" is synonymous with sophisticated and chic. I've never really understood the "gritty" associations. When I hear "urban" I think "urbane" as in "that person is witty and urbane."
