This is what inspires me when I get dressed how can I translate these images into my style. Sometimes I just like to look at the Images I thought I would share. Maybe you to can be inspired. I don't know who to give credit to but I love them all the same.

Those are beautiful and also powerful images! Even the earrings are cool.

I sometimes do what I consider stealth dressing. A scarf or piece of jewelry will have huge symbolic meaning for me, but no one else is aware.

Classically Casual - There are so many meanings that one can read into these images. I also love subtext in a item or stealth dressing I think that is why I am into head wraps and Hats they mean so much to me.

They're brilliant images too on the plain art front. Modern and historical at the same time. Those are paintings I could look at a long time.

Dramatic, is the word that comes to my mind:
Dramatic in the play of an Elizabethan ruff against cold, hard armour.
Dramatic black & white palette.
Dramatic settings.
A lot of these clothes remind me of you

Beautiful and powerful images indeed! #6 tickles my RPG funny bone, loooove that one. As for appropriating this into style, good question. I see a lot of contrast: contrast in color (dark, light), contrast in strength (metal, soft hair), contrast in sweetness (ruffle collar, warrior sword). I also see a good dose of practicality actually, separate from the giant ruffles All of the hair looks appropriate for whatever you could imagine that these ladies would be doing; the ladies in #2 look as if they are somewhere warm, and are dressed for it; the gal in #7 looks resourceful (and also like someone you shouldn't mess with unless you were really prepared). I think you definitely appropriate this attitude in your dress!

Ah, "role playing game" and in my case I mean video games. Like Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger etc. They usually have a strong fantasy aspect.

Wow, those are some photos!

It is certainly a challenge to try to incorporate elements of a style that is very foreign to everyday wear. I like Aida's list of the different types of contrast. Maybe something like light, gauzy cardigans or scarves paired with pants and combat boots?

Of course, on a simpler level, you could wear larger-scale jewelry (maybe you already do); I'm especially thinking of thicker cuff-style bracelets. For clothes, would something with a jacquard-style print do? Something kind of shiny and ornate? I thought that that might be a way to mimic all the metal in the pics. I've attached some random shots of jacquard pants that I got through Google Images.

Gorgeous, dramatic images. Seeing them all together reminds me of how little I really see black women depicted in art -- and what I'm missing. I love the hair in the profile shot, and I admire the strength of presentation --- the directness and body confidence, without sexual objectification. The ruff pictures remind me of Donizetti's operas, like Maria Stuarda and Anna Bolena. The white dresses would be the easiest to duplicate. A white dress and scarf would be awesome in the height of a hot Chicago summer!

Rachylou - I also think I need one great find EBay has everything. I have waisted so many hours searching for things I need.

Columbine-I am going to try and recreate an outfit for my Sunday date night. My partner just loves my clothing which makes me happy to no end.
