Updating my wardrobe for autumn - are waterfall cardis still current?

I'm updating my wardrobe for autumn. My style goals are: modern classic with an edge; less black; a bit more of a relaxed / fun vibe; simple; versatile; MOTG appropriate.

I believe so. At least they are still in retail stores! At least I hope it's a lasting trend because it's comfy. That blue is very striking and pretty.

An yes I think so, but the current version I would suggest is less frilly in the waterfall part so this one IMHO is perfect. I like the ones that create more of an uneven hem line than 'waterfall'. To my eye they look more edgy . Of course how we wear them makes a difference too. I love them over a reall slim line bottom like skinnies or even a pencil skirt. Love the colour of this Witchery one:)

I'm completely in agreement with Deborah on this. The more ruffly ones, not so much (and I have one of those, worried about how to update it) but this is almost more the asymmetrical look, and the color is phenomenal. I would look at how to wear it beyond the more mundane skinnies in tall boots look to really make it 'now'.

You can't beat them for cosiness and their casual vibe.
This colour is on trend too. Wear with slouchy pants and fun booties and it will be more 2013.

An, I bought myself a striped waterfall cardi a month back but haven't been able to wear it till now. I think the striped ones are not so easy to style, but the blue one looks great.

Love the blue colour. Personally I've never worn my black waterfall cardi as much as I expected. However this one looks like a different beast, verging into jacket territory, its lovely.

I'm over them too, but it seemed like they were EVERYWHERE a couple of years ago so I tired of the look quite quickly. Oh, and perhaps because I had one my husband called "the bathrobe."

I still have one that's quite roomy in a grey ombré. I don't wear it much out of the house, but I still like it because its a bit asymmetrical and different from the others I've seen.

I love the color of this one, but with trends heading towards more refinement and polish, or just plain slouchy and polished, I think these may be on their way out. I think they will still be around for a bit, but I really feel like they are at the end of being on trend.

I am not in the fashion world, so I may be totally off base!

I think it is the really ruffly ones that are starting to look dated. The ones with a jagged, stepped, or asymmetrical hemline I think are still around and look good.

Bj111, you crack me up.

I have plenty of clients still in waterfall cardigans because they just don't like jackets - and they are camouflaging. I also have clients who literally want to burn their cascading cardigans because they wore them so much and are that sick of them.

I vote not trendy but certainly not unstylish or dated. Just like bootcut jeans. My thumbs are up.

I'm just glad you asked. It's interesting to see what other people think on this. The ones I wear I tend to wrap the ends around my waist. On the whole, they don't feel fresh to me anymore.
