Kerry, some of those look really cool. Maybe I need to go to NYC to shop for new glasses!

I just finished shopping for frames and round styles are what’s new right now. They weren’t good for me, but you never know until you try.

Thanks, Kyle. Hmm, I’m not sure about round styles on me. But then, I’m not sure super angular is good either. LOL I don’t know what I need anymore.

What did you end up getting?

If you want to have some fun designing your “perfect” pair, check out the Dilem brand: http://www.dilem.fr/en/concept

I have a collection of different temples to switch up the mood of my Dilem glasses which are several years old now but still seem fresh to me because of their versatility. This year I updated my prescription sunglasses and transitionals using frames from a Dutch brand, Roger, and an Austrian brand, Neubau.

I like to keep my specs interesting, but not too quirky and the European brands have always seemed to hit my sweet spot.

Kerry beat me to suggesting Ann et Valentin; also Face a Face may be worth checking out.

I am right there with you on wanting interesting, but not busy frames. I go to a fantastic optical shop, but have felt like I landed pushed beyond my comfort zone on occasion. Will follow with interest.

I love those frames, Gaylene!

Janet, I know exactly what you mean about specs wearing the person as opposed to the opposite. The Res/Rei are less bold than they look, but I confess the pink Deromes push the envelope for me. I only got them because DH likes them. I am pale with mostly white hair so the pink doesnt look quite as bold on me as it does on the darker model, dépit being a thick frame. My optician said that women my age do better with colour or pale frames as dark frames can be harsh. I’m not one for colour so went pale.

For those buying Anne et Valentin recently, how have you found their ability to go the distance? I bought some 3 years ago and another last year. The 3-year-old ones are doing well, but the pair I got just last year broke at the temple a few weeks ago. I talked to my optician about fixing to make them my readers, but she pointed out places where the plastic is weak and said it wasn’t worth it. She says it’s very frustrating to sell high-end glasses because often companies build a reputation then sell their brand to a bigger company that doesn’t maintain the quality. (I don’t know if this is A&V or if I just got a bad pair). I called the shop I bought them from but they no longer carry the brand so it’s on me to contact the company myself. It’s a shame because I really like their styles and they are confortable on me. I think Angie’s red specs may be A&V.

No wisdom here, but I get a lot of compliments on my glasses, Jimmy Choo 202. I have the Dark Havana and the navy blue. The Havana I purchased from a local shop, the blue I ordered off the internet. The Havana fit better; the blue ones run larger.

Just throwing that out there to help you figure out what you might like! Like you, I bought these after coming off a slight cat eye frame, too. Good luck!!!!

(I'd add a Find, but none of the websites would let me and I have to get to work ...)

This is a resurrected old thread, folks! Just FYI. I have had new glasses for six months now.

I went for years without new glasses because I could NOT find a frame I could stand. Like you I have a small face, but not delicate features. I wanted drama but not Iris Apfel drama. I wanted classic, but not boring. Edgy but not ... well, you get it. The style when I was looking was that slight cat eye, which felt too big for me. Plus I didn't want something that "everyone" had. Sigh. I finally found these from Ann & Valentin. In red of all things. But it's a reasonably subdued red with lots of black marled in, and it adds a bit of colour to my face. I thought I wanted tortoise or black frames, but my salesperson thought that brown wasn't going to work as well for me anymore now that I have let the gray come into my hair...

Anyway -- I sympathize with the challenges of finding just the right pair. You have to look at them every day, so you kinda have to feel good about your glasses. Good luck and do share what you find!!
