Update: NAS Shoes... - YouLookFab Forum

...was a bit of a bust for me. I wasn't really counting on bringing home shoes, but I had hoped that maybe there would be some wide calf boots included. No dice - nothing that would fit someone in the 15-16" circumference size range (and above) was available. Apparently (according to the sales consultant who was helping us) wide calf and narrow calf boots were not part of the sale items. She was a bit miffed at the exclusion this year & last year as well and acknowledged that the store is losing out on a pretty large (no pun intended) customer base.

My sister, who is a mainstream calf size, did luck out. She tried on the Vince Camuto Bilco tall boots (page 33) and we liked them a lot, but what really stole her heart was the Steve Madden Midori Tall Buckle Boot (page 61), which is what she ended up taking home.

We also both liked (but didn't buy) a pair of lace-up Naya heeled pumps, which came in very fun colors and were quite comfortable. I saw several cute pairs of flat oxfords, both with and without laces. There were some great Miz Mooz pumps included as well. But in general, I just didn't see anything that "grabbed" me.

We've decided to switch our clothing pre-sale day to Friday to avoid the offchance that the items we want end up being sold out, since shoppers can now take them home during the pre-sale.

Sorry it was not a successful trip. On the other hand, more money for clothes!

Una, I saw the Frye boots on page 32 of the catalogue - the Janes, I think? - and they were just lovely. I didn't linger over them as I knew there wasn't a chance that they would fit on my calves and I didn't want to get attached to an item that I couldn't wear.

Lisa, shoes were not on my must-have list anyway (my shoe wardrobe is in really good shape) so I didn't go in with any expectations to find anything. I'd love it if some year I could find tall boots that would fit me, but I guess that wide-calf boots is just not Nordstrom's priority.

You are right as far as the wider calf options go, Kari. Although some styles to slouch down, AND there are lots of bootie options.

But in the designer collection, small calved gals can have a ball. I really lucked out this year with my 13 inch calves.

That's true, Angie. There were also some mid-calf styles that probably could have worked as they don't come up high on the wider part of my leg, and a *lot* of cute booties. If I was looking for either of those items, I would have been set.

I'm very glad that my narrower-calved sisters aren't out of luck, though! Can't wait to see what you bought.

Heather, I am still hoping that some fall season will bring my impossible dream of soft gray leather tall boots in a wide calf size *and* in my budget range... emphasis on the "impossible" part of that sentence! There was an adorable metallic pewter pair of tall boots that Nordstrom carried last year, but much too narrow for me.

Oh Kari, your post is so disheartening for me! It looks like I have a similar calf size you have so my hope to find boots tomorrow just evaporated now. My only hope that with bigger size calves get also bigger so I can luck out still...if they have anything in my size...but I agree, I am happy for narrow-calf YLF society for this year - you go, girls!

Sveta, you did mention that your shoe size is on the large end, right? It might be that something that would be too narrow for me in my size (8-8.5) would be large enough in the calf for you if the proportions of the circumference increase with the shoe size. Here's hoping, anyway.

Taylor, Angie did say that she lucked out in the designer boot department, so keeping my fingers crossed for you and my narrower-calved friends that you are more fortunate.

Kari! I just came back from pre-selecting with a client at the NAS who has 15.5 to 16 inch calves and we found three pairs of boots!

Oooh! Angie, do you remember what brands she tried?

Perhaps the Bellevue store simply just had a rotten boot selection.

Kari-I-'m not sure if the style is to your liking, but last year, I bought the Cole Haan Air Avalon which looks very similar to the Air Whitley shown in the online catalog. I have a 15" calf and because of the stretchy suede on the back, I had enough room to tuck in skinny jeans and I never lost circulation to my feet!

Laura, the sales associate let me know that they had already started selling out of some items. Yikes! But she didn't think that any boots were part of the sale that would fit a 15-16" calf, and she was actually one of the shoe trained specialists. (They were pulling extra people into the shoe section who are not actually footwear trained.)

Renee, let's keep each other posted! I probably won't get back to the shoe section until after the 15th. We have our clothing pre-sale appointment tomorrow but won't be venturing into shoes.

Yes - our sales people said the same. Rumor had it that the Tory Burch tall chestnut riding boots are already sold out nationwide.
