After many helpful suggestions from YLF members, I listened to Thistle who said just get Ariat, but in grey.
I found this pair of Ariat short boots in a black that veered towards grey. They were delivered yesterday. They are beautiful, and the color is a lovely grey, not black. Perfect!
However, they don't fit! My other Ariats are snug across the instep, and feel wonderful. These are very loose. They have little side zippers, but I don't need to unzip them to take them off. Sadly, I'm going to have to return them.
