I agree with Ceit & Diana about the dress. I love your hair & your legs are amazing

Your calves! Awesome and so symmetrical Love your hair, love the dress. it doesn't strike me as a tango dress--I thought they were more flowy but I have no clue about these things, really. You look amazing though.

I think you look beautiful, and radiant, and very happy in this dress. Look at your face! This dress is a keeper! You can doll this dress up with some showy earrings and pretty makeup (Target has some very cute flamenco-style earrings right now in colors and metallics) - and you can dress it down for other uses, such as work, or church.

It would be a sin to cover those killer legs - I don't think you need capris underneath! If you aren't sure about bare legs, get some hose or some nude dance tights from your local dance store.

If you are unsure about the dress, keep the tags on, keep looking, but at least the pressure is off, knowing that you've got a lovely dress that you can dance in, waiting for you in your closet

Thank you, little black dress, er, Belle! And all of you for your truly helpful comments of all different opinion. They all have validity.

(I may need to post this separately; not sure if I can get Angie back here to comment.) But regarding Tadashi Shoji, where would you recommend I go to check out his dresses? I mean online. I saw the selection on nordstrom.com but they had more fancy event stuff with sequins, or else nice but fitted styles, and not really anything I would wear out dancing. I am also not able to pay $200-300+ for a dress I would be wearing out to a social dance (especially as my body is still hopefully changing)...people do dress up, but it's not like a fancy event (though it's good to know I can check out TS for any upcoming nice occasion wear).

Thank you again, everyone. Mwah!

That is a beautiful dress, Una. Thanks for pointing it out.

Mochi, I am in a big hurry (late for a salsa social), and I will come back tomorrow to comment in more detail, but quickly:

First of all, your hair and legs look smashing!
I have been doing ballroom and similar dances for about 10 years and have vast experience in costumes, dance wear, you name it. Been to hundreds of ballroom and some tango socials. Your dress is not bad, but you can do so much better.

Here are some resources, and latin/ballroom dance practice wear sections are great resources ( do not look through tango ones only) Skirt/top comos are especially useful, like the photo I have attached:

http://www.tangoleva.com/
http://www.ekclothing.com/ (a more affordable option)

And yes, a vast majority of ladies wear some kind of dance bike shorts/special dance undies etc. It is a pretty much a given that skirts will fly/ride up and some people consider it a part of dance etiquette to wear some, such as :

There are much cheaper versions around, those are just for illustration.

Enjoy the links! One can kind of get lost browsing those sites

This dress says tango to me!

(Was going to link it in your earlier thread but it was sold out... but looks like it might have popped back!)

Nancy: I do not like the dress on you. There its said. I think you should try a blouse and skirt combo from things you already own and know work for your body. You asked for honesty and this is it.

What fun, Mochi! Actually, you have a rather fab body, and as others have said...great pins! I don't think this is a great dress for you event. I like a Tanya's suggestions.

Searching the web, and Pinterest, and there seem to be lots of asymmetrical hems, and black or red. I think an asymmetrical hem would be such an awesome highlight of your legs. I also think you would look amazing in red, but you have to be comfortable.

I'm sure there is a dress out there that will do you justice.

Oh, I love that dress Diana pointed out!

Hi Mochi,

I answered your other post but this one is the active one I think. I do ballroom, not argentine, but I'm still going to advocate for a fuller skirt that would give you more freedom of movement. Nothing against this dress or how you look in it, but I wouldn't rate it high as a dance dress.

Tanya absolutely knows what she is talking about...I even have a dress from one of those websites...but I want to warn you that they are very "costume". Like for a performance or beginning competition. They would definitely look and feel strange if you, say, stopped for dinner on the way or something. There is definitely something that sets them apart from regular clothes, even dressy ones, in the same way my competition gown could never be worn to any other event, no matter how fancy.
