Universal Standard Curve cardigan

Hi all—I’ve been curious about Universal Standard for a while, and Angie’s recent post about walking through their showroom made me take another look. I ordered the Curve Cardi, a merino wool cardigan with the look of being double breasted. It isn’t really—there’s only one row of buttons with no internal button to secure it on the inside. The fabric is wonderful, smooth, medium weight, non scratchy merino from Italy. I ordered the 2XS, which translates to a size 6-8. That’s on the higher end of the sizes I typically wear, FYI, so if you want a nice drape to the fit I’d order the larger of your two sizes. It’s a definite keeper for me. I like it both open and closed. Sorry for my smeary mirror pics! Naturalizer snake shoes as a bonus, they come in narrows and are super comfortable right out of the box.

Janet, I agree, I don't usually like cardigans--something about having a bigger bust usually makes them fit poorly or make my neck look weird. This one feels more like a top, if that makes sense.

Teresa - It looks gorgeous on you! I missed This post when I was traveling all October. I have been wanting that cardigan for months since I first saw it on YLF. But I am 5’2” and was afraid it would swamp me in length.

How tall are you? Can you give the measurements of the Back of neck to hem, and neck point to end of sleeve cuff, and underarm to underarm I’m typically a 4P in tops.

also how has it held up in terms of wear. Have you washed it? I’m hoping I might be able to intentionally petitify it with some shrinkage, but a risky strategy for a pricey piece.

Karen, I’m traveling right now so I can’t measure it for you. I’ll try to remember to do that when I get home. I haven’t washed it yet, but the material is smooth, silky almost, and hasn’t shown wear so far. I tend to wear it almost as a top, with a camisole or t shirt underneath.

I am 5’6”, and with a long torso, 32E bust (which takes up some room in length). I suspect it’d be too long for a petite if you have a shorter torso...which is a bummer, I know. Not sure if shrinking is the ticket.

Thanks for the fast response. I was afraid of that. I’m a 32D but a pretty short waist. Your torso is probably at least 2” longer than mine based on our height differences. It looks so good on you, and I am so obsessed with it I may take a chance with the free returns, but I’m trying hard to be environmentally conscious about things like shippingso will wait until I am ordering other things.

Very nice cardigan and works well with your fab shoes ( shoe envy ).
Somehow I was imagining short pearls or chunky chains with it for an extra oomph - don't know if it's your thing though. In any case it's a great piece - hope for more outfits with it later, after your travels.
