Uniqlo (and to a lesser extent Muji) have become my go-to brands for decent quality essentials at a reasonable price. When I eg. had to take my daughters shopping for funeral wear last fall, Uniqlo was the only place in the mall that offered basic black pants, sweaters and dresses in a selection of cuts and sizes and of a quality high enough to not look ‘cheap’ the way flat black can.

This time I got happily sucked in by below photo ad on instagram, and ordered the brown culottes and a black tee (it took me a bit to realized they layered the tees for that contrast roll effect - they are one colour only).
I measured myself to see if the XXL pants would fit. My waist is actually a few inches larger than the size chart, but I took chance since it said ‘relaxed’ and I have other Uniqlo pants that fit. The culottes fit beautifully, similar length and oversized vibe as the model. The knitted viscose top is very much an elevated tee look which I love. My idea of quiet luxury and something that visually recedes unless you’re really paying attention, a tee for the office rather than the cottage.
In theory I’m deferring the decision to keep or return for a couple of weeks since I can’t wear these for several months, but as you can tell I’m very happy with them Thought I’d share.
