Updated: Unexpected hair appt. HELP!

I just got a call from my hairdresser that she had a cancellation today if I wanted to come in. And it just so happens that a friend in advertising asked if I would be willing to be in a commercial they are filming for a bank, as a business customer, on Friday (my parallel acting career, ha ha)... so I need to get my roots done before then.

So should I cut it all off or not?! What about color? Here is a picture of me looking mangy and RATE in current state of affairs.

You are such a celebrity. Always filming movies and commercials.....

I think if you are going to be in a commercial then I would not do anything drastic TODAY until you have had more time to contemplate.

Heather's right. Just do the normal thing this time. Deliberate some more before the next appt.

And in the meantime, NOBODY wearing purple specs and that gorgeous scarf could look mangy, least of all you!

I would stick with a root touch up and trim until you have the photo of the style you really want. Great purple glasses with green scarf pairing!

I like the idea of inching closer to the next cut you are looking into without having to jump in feet first, if that is possible with the style you are thinking of trying next.

I agree with the opinions for a trim and root touch up for now. This way you already know what you are going to look like post hair cut, there will be no surprises and it give you mroe time to mull over what direcrtion you want to 'head' in.

I'm recalling a horrible hair cut I got right after taking the Bar Exam because I thought I needed a change ....still regret that 8 years later!

I also vote to just touch up the roots and get a trim. I think casting people dislike it when you change your look after the fact.

Love the hairstyle you are considering. I think it will really suit you. Why not go part way there and go a bit shorter with more of a distinct bob shape, freshen up your color and after the ad shoot go for the look on the picture?

That is a great style, Una. But still, unless you are your stylist are utterly sympatico, I would say wait. Rae makes a great point. You can take the big leap a month from now.

Update: Will post photos later, but I went with the sound advice here not to change it up too much. So she fixed the color, then we went short in the back but left the front longer and trimmed the ends. It's a bit of that "pob" cut that Victoria Beckham was sporting, but it works for me in terms of heading toward shorter without loosing the length in front right now.
