Underpinnings make such a difference!

You can't see two new additions to my wardrobe, but today I'm wearing a full slip from the Gap and some new Commando tights. OMG! I am not segmented, and my tights are not sticking to my dress. Dresses will have a whole new lease on life in my closet!

Thanks to everyone for all the recommendations on my segmented issues. This Gap slip is quite nice, though it will be short on anyone taller than me, and a lot cheaper than the other ones I consided. Also, it was available and the Commando slip is hard to find in black in my size.

Slips (oddly enough plain cotton) and shapewear are my best friends.

I stopped wearing slips but was recently wishing I hadn't. I actually found two half slips in my drawer recently.... Why did we ever go away from them?

Oooh, I'm so excited for this recommendation! What's your take on the sizing for this slip? Someone else (I think Shiny?) had recommended the Commando slip at Nordstrom but I'm not convinced on the price. Did you by any chance get to compare them?

I saw Commando tights at the Bay last night but I wasn't sure if they were worth the $35. Sounds like they are? Which ones did you get?

I did not know Gap sold slips! Once I get my GC refunded from boots I returned, I think it might go to one of these!

You said it, sister. You only need to try a top on without a bra to know this is true, haha. (I still look with envy at the A cup ladies).

I have a nearly identical slip by Calvin Klein, but longer, so I know what you're talking about. Less things ending at my waist = less fidgeting = more comfort.

Can you buy Commando tights in a store, or must you order them? I keep hearing about them. I am a sucker for tights with a comfy waistband.

So this Gap slip runs pretty TTS. Mine is a small and it fits but is not a squeeze. The straps are adjustable. It's not shapewear at all, but it did the job perfectly today. I did not compare to the Commando as it was hard to find in black in a S. Overall I'm happy with it.

If I could find the Commando slip for $35 I'd get it, based on the quality of the tights.

Elizabeth, I had to order the tights. I bet some stores have them though. They are really comfy and thick and opaque.

Oh wow. I will have to order the Gap slip and compare it to the Commando! How long is it on you? I can definitely use a second slip, as I am wearing the Commando constantly.

And YES the $35 Commando tights are obscenely priced... but I am sooo in love with them. I think I may need to stock up on more. I would caution that my recommendation is for petites only: I am not sure they would work as well on someone taller. My issue with tights is that so many wind up being way. Too. Big. Too. Loose. Too Long. Even the smallest size. They'll bag out at the ankles. The waistband will go up to my neck. Etc. The Commandos are not like that at all.

I wore the nude microfishnets tonight and I confess: at one point, I found myself running my hand against my back and marveling privately to myself how these tights did NOT GIVE ME BACK FAT. You know what I mean? That horrible little roll, where your back curves in?

Shiny,tje slip is about mid-thigh on me. If it was a miniskirt it would be about 13 inches.

The slip is nothing marvelous - it just works and does its job. Which is really all I ask! Is the Commando one amazing?

Yes, the tights were a miracle - I didn't have that rubber band mark around my belly when I took them off either! I got them the opaque black.

You know, it's difficult to review the Commando slip, because I barely notice it there! My only gripe was it was too long for me, but that was solved easily with a pair of scissors. It fits just as well as my modal slips of similar shape, which I sleep in, but I wouldn't sleep in this slip, because it's synthetic. I don't wear those as slips; they are for sleeping. What I had been wearing is a silk negligee I got from VS ages and ages ago. The Commando works better because it has no lace on the top, for smoother fit. But silk works pretty dang well for a slip... it allows the dress to, well, slip. No static or cling etc. And as you mentioned, it is not shapewear -- it is not meant to be tight and suck it all in. It does do a beautiful job of skimming over bumps and lumps and panty lines. I love it most of all because I just don't really notice I'm wearing it.

The Gap one may be JUST as good. I will have to give it a whirl. But it may be shorter than the Commando.

Elisabeth, the Oakridge Centre Bay store has lots of Commando tights (deep in their Lingerie Basement of Despair and Gloom, LOL) so I bet other Bay stores do too.
