Um, my very unplanned impulse purchase

So I made the mistake of saying "Hi" to a local boutique owner on Friday. I swear I just picking up some packages. She said I had to try this on, big mistake. This would make a grand total of three black leather jackets. A cropped tie-side collarless, a sculpted strong shoulder and now this. I got it at discount, less than this price, but still spendy.

It's very Bottega Veneta. Isn't different enough to justify. Did I screw up?

If you have doubts, bring it back. Sounds like it's just "extra" at this point. You can buy a whole lot of amazing clothing for that amount of money.

I have three black leather jackets, and none are as cool as this, so I have absolutely no room to dissuade you!

It looks really cool and unique. Is it actually made out of woven strips of leather? I've never seen a jacket like that before.

But it is a lot of $$$. I agree with Janet, let's see it on you before we decide!

It's lovely, but even if you can afford it, multiples of a certain item (like a black leather jacket) can end up being closet clutter. For the price, I would want it to really stand out and be unique in my wardrobe.

They are all different jackets, I think. This one, with the open weave, is very summery and very NOW (with the mesh trend) and sort of classic too (as you say, very Bottega Veneta). It's beautiful, Anna, needless to say. I know you would wear it a lot--think of it over a tank, with your skin peeking through! How is the fit? Only you can decide if it's worth it...I know you were contemplating saving up for NAS...

anna. i can talk a person out of buying anything, and 9 times out of ten i do. i have an eentsy wardrobe and many of my workhorse pieces were either given to me or re-made free items. I aim to spend the least possible amount of money the great bulk of the time.

however.

There is a time to shell out the dough.

Are you out of your ever-loving mind thinking about returning this jacket!?!?!?! It's gorgeous, you can wear leather jackets like 75-85% of the time in your climate, and they are a total signature piece for your personal style!!! This jacket is gorgeous and hits that sweet spot of being so unique that it's never quite 'in fashion', thus it will never be really 'out of fashion' either. And leather jackets wear well for DECADES.

I have a leather bomber i got almost 20 years ago for about $400. One of my hugest splurges ever. I still get wonderful use out of it and many compliments.

So unless you're going broke or really don't like it on - keep it! dang, i wish i had a spare thousand happy day and have fun with your pop! steph

I own two leather jackets I don't wear (Austin weather). So if yiu'd wear all three with perfect happiness, then score!!

OMG, I am a total sucker sucker sucker for woven leather - love! Assuming it fits you perfectly, I think it's a keeper. I don't think three leather jackets is too much for Seattle - I live in what is technically a desert and have three real and one faux.

In regards to the price - if it is not causing you financial hardship, I don't think it's that far out of line. How much does a BV bag cost, right? If BV made a jacket, this is what it would look like, and I'm sure it would be - what? Five times more expensive? They're used on Ebay for more than yours, and yours is much cooler.

That's a pretty awesome jacket! I'd love to see it on you. If:

1. it doesn't cause financial hardship
2. you LOVE it and
3. it fits you perfectly

then keep it. This is almost a year-round jacket for Seattle. The one thing that gives me pause is how frequently it rains around here. Even though it's light-weight enough to be one pretty much year round, it's not going to be very practical as a true topper on a rainy day. But wow, I really do love it.

ETA: after seeing the photo of it on you, strike that part about it not being practical in Seattle. The white mannequin made it seem much more of an open weave than it looks on you in the photo...

Absolutely gorgeous and unique! I LOVE it and if it were anywhere near my budget I'd snap it up in a split second.
