Hm, maybe logic will help... you've been wearing your gray skinnies and other gray items with no problem (as far as I see). And you did have second thoughts about wearing the foldover style with your sweater dress. So maybe this isn't really a wardrobe hole?

Yeah....I'm not gonna be able to talk you out of those! The only thing stopping me from jumping on them in Cognac for $80 is the heel. If those were flat I'd be ordering them!!!!

Uh, did you make sure of the size? Because the range is up to $250, and usually only the outlier sizes get such a great deal. Please don't be offended since this is so obvious and I'm sure you did already...I'm just trying to talk you off of that ledge! But damn....that would be a breathtaking deal, and I'd be telling you to go for it!

Mo, seriously, this is an instant that you should not let go by. You love them, you will wear them, and they are seriously within your budget. Buy them and extend your SYC by a week.

Well I love them in cognac, and I can see why you are getting a lot of wear out of them, but maybe it helps if I tell you I don't love them in grey. I wear a LOT of grey clothes, and love the color in almost anything. But both shoes and purses in grey leave me cold compared to other colors. No offense if anyone has a thing for grey leather. But I find all other colors infinitely richer looking.

Well . . . yes, I do have them in cognac. No, I haven't worn them more than twice. BUT that is because it is STILL freaking 80 here - ugh.
I was seriously looking at the Danika zip boot in gray months back but talked myself out of them. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003F.....B003FZB1TG I also have had serious lust over the Frye Julia lace ups in gray. http://www.amazon.com/FRYE-Wom.....038;sr=1-1 So I have been seeking out a gray boot and I don't see that changing in the future. I've never duplicated a shoe before.
Maybe I can order and then debate once it arrives. It is Amazon, after all, easy returns!

Mellllls, I was starting SYC at the year's start because we will be moving soon and leaving this job behind. I wasn't going to buy anything until I was working back in CA. I found out this week I can start back at one of my old jobs on a golf course when the season starts back - likely April. The plan was to SYC until then. In short, yes, we can afford for me to shop while the BF is still working here. But once we move, the dream is over lol. I also wanted to do SYC to force myself to wear what I have and remix more effectively. Still not sure on whether to pounce . . .

Claire, I got the cognacs for a steal at $77 also. I am quite the bargain hunter you know! Sometimes to my detriment. I really would prefer a slightly different look of the laces on the Julias. But I just can't see the $300+ difference being worth it. Sigh. Now if *they* would go on sale for $49 there would not be a second's hesitation out of me!!

If these were at the top of your target range for shoes, say $100, would you still get them? Would you regret not having that extra $50 to put toward lace up boots later, should a pair present itself? Are you going to end up craving something that is more fitted in the calf?

You are not going to find a better price, and since you've been craving a gray boot, go for it if these are the ones that have your heart.

Rae, excellent questions. That is the crux of the issue at hand - I still can't bear to spend $200 and $300 on things when there is a suitable alternative around for much cheaper. Truth be told the slim calf fit and the laces of the Julia have my heart. Funny enough, I spied a gray pair just like them about 3 1/2 years ago in a boutique in Tahoe and thought they were too much at $160. lol.
I guess I will leave the cheap date, Gayle, alone and continue to pine for my expensive gal, Julia

I see so many pairs of shoes I love but can't justify. I DO think gray boots (which I don't own any pairs of !) could definitely be something I want. I just have to set my target price and try to work out a cost per pair. So if you love them....maybe in a color you don't already own......

I wouldn't get them, Mo. You already have a pair, and they are not that versatile nor classic so that they can stand the passing of time. I think that in two or three years those will look obsolete. I'm sure you can wait and spend those $50 in some other gorgeous pair of boots.

Ok, being honest, I so don't like that pair of boots at all, so really I'm not being very objective since I wouldn't want them even if they were a hand-me-down or a gift. But just saying...

I have decided to wait it out for the Frye Julia's. I only hope they are still available by the time I have the money for them, come autumn. In the meantime, I have enough boots for the remainder of this winter no problem!!
Once again, lured by that sale price! But I stepped off the ledge and am back in my seat - whew.
