I need some sense knocked into me! My shopping ban is under serious strain.

This dress was basically invented for my shape. If you click where it says "16 reviews", and sort by "helpfulness--high to low," you will see a picture of one of the reviewers wearing the dress. She has a similar shape to me and she looks great in it (much better than the more rectangular models, I must say)! And that purple color is calling my name...

Her waist DOES look smaller than mine though, so maybe it wouldn't be as flattering on me and I should just forget the whole thing...right? It would look so good with my Blowfish sandals though...ahhh!

I don't know why I keep visiting my favorite shopping destinations when I know I'm not supposed to be spending any money! Walking away from the computer for a bit..

I do need the new computer. I even want the new computer. I just don't want to spend money on it is all :p

So should I say I think the dress would look really great on you? Or should I say that even $30 helps go towards the extra memory you'll need on your computer to run the design suite?

I was hoping Mac Rumors would give me some justification by telling me not to buy now, but instead it says that the Macbook Pro was just updated and I SHOULD buy it now.

No free iPod touch this time either. Hmph.

My last pre-shopping ban purchase is still in the mail right now but I can't even wear it yet (pair of booties), so sadly it won't help with the hunger pangs. Oh well.

How about disregarding if this particular dress will look good on you, do you NEED another dress right now? The dress is nice, but not so unique that you won't find a similar one in the future. I'm approaching a shopping ban in June, so I'm trying to encourage you for my own sake. A shopping ban is a shopping ban, period!

I love me a knit dress, and it's really cute, but they tear easily, and get that balled up fuzz on them. So I would say probably not worth it. (I feel this way about a lot of UO stuff).
I know everyone has a different thrift store tolerance, but you have considered thrifting when you're feeling the urge for something new? The Salvation Army in my neighborhood has 50% off Saturdays and I've seen really cute knit dresses there (like a size 12 DVF dress). Unlike Goodwill, the Sal's in the city get their stuff from central warehouses. I've also heard good things about the Chlesea Sals.

I never have any luck thrifting. I can't find anything in my size, and the lack of organization and musty smell just drive me away prematurely. I see girls my size thrifting all the time, but honestly I have no idea how they do it. I virtually never find anything below a size 6, unless it is from the 80's and therefore the sizing is completely different from today.

Next time I'm on the Upper East Side maybe I'll give it a shot though. I bet all those skinny rich housewives must be donating their used goods...

I just asked my Genius if he thinks you should buy the MacBook Pro now or wait and he agrees that you should buy it now because they just came out with new ones. According to him, the next ones won't come out for another 6 months.

Get the computer! Noooo dresses!

You have lots of cute dresses, but what you don't have is a computer that's not on it's last legs. Save for that computer.

Thanks for confirming Marianna. Buying computers is so stressful for me! I wish Apple would just buy Adobe so I didn't have to play this annoying guessing game about coordinating my computer purchases and configuration to be compatible with the latest software upgrades, and also have the additional pressure of considering how future upgrades might or might not be compatible with the configurations I choose. By 2015 when I am 31 years old, CS7 will probably be the latest version. What if it doesn't run on the computer I buy now? Because CS5 doesn't run on my current computer and I wasn't expecting that when I first bought it. I know that is due to the PowerPC > Intel switch but it has made me paranoid! WHO KNOWS what crazy stunts Apple will pull in the next 5 years! Technology moves too fast for my wallet to keep up

p.s. it must be so convenient having a genius for a fiance. After cobbler, Mac genius is next on my list of preferred professions for a significant other...

I'll probably get a refurb. I don't think I have bought anything new from Apple since I got this computer (well, technically since my dad got it for me). No quezzies for now, just ranting and raving because spending this much money all at once scares me..

Don't worry, this dress may pass you buy, but there's always something better on the horizon. And you'll be happy when you do get the new computer.
