Well, it depends on what you were looking for. It's hard to say without hearing a little elaboration on what you consider "ugly" since that tends to be in the eye of the beholder.
It was the year I found my serious summer workhorse "edgy" sandals (the LD Tuttles), my turquoise cowboy boots, the Ugg Cortona boots, and others that have edged some old favorite footwear out of my closet (also nodding along the Okalas but I barely got to wear them much, so they will get more play in 2014), so I can't call it a bad year for me.
That said, all of these things were items I found via YLF, online, or through non-typical shopping (the turquoise cowboy boots found on a trip to Cavenders in TX for very non-fashiony weatherproof work boots). I have not found much in the way of head-turning footwear in the actual B&M stores in the last year. I do find that interesting.
