Ugly sandals

always trying

These are walking cradles. Bought several years ago for a trip with a lot of walking. ended up not really wearing them much. Unpacked them and put them in my corner shoe cubby. Do you think they are too ugly to wear?

They look alright but somewhat not that interesting - it may be the color.
Comfortable for walking? If not - donation bag.

If you're not reaching for them and find them ugly and not useful, I say let them go! Life is too short to make yourself wear ugly shoes that you don't like unless it's absolutely necessary.

Of course not. To each her own. It's all in the styling, and a meticulous pedicure , too. Denim shorts, black or white pedicure, print top or hoody, belt bag - and off you go for a walk.

I would wear them, for walking or some other casual outdoor event, like a picnic or such.

I like them! I think I’d avoid wearing them with ‘pretty’ midi skirts though. They’re something that I feel would do best in a neat-and-trim look.

Why did you not wear them much on your trip? Are they comfortable or not so much?

I wouldn’t wear these sandals with anything conventionally feminine or pretty. But I would wear them with denim. I have no clue why the find for the first dress is the back view.

They look utilitarian for walking. But if you think they're ugly, and you didn't use them when you did a lot of walking, you probably won't reach for them now.

I wonder if you didn't wear them because while the top is a nude type color, the soles are black. Would you have been more likely to wear either a nude or a black walking sandal instead?

Not ugly! They look like great walking sandals. Are they comfortable? That taupe colour can be tricky; it’s not quite grey, not quite brown.

Not ugly at all. Kind of in line with the modern utility trend. Silver metallic or olive pedi and worn with jeans (faded denim or white) a grey or white T-shirt and an olive utility jacket. Fab casual.

I had the same thought as Lisa. If you have a really good pedicure, you're set. They're not the most interesting sandal, but when you're looking for a comfortable walking sandal, you have to compromise a bit. I actually think the ring zipper on top gives them a little pizzazz.

I actually like them and don’t think they’re ugly! And I am notorious for only liking refined or even dainty sandals. I would happily wear them on walks if they were comfy. In fact I was keeping an eye out for new walking sandals as my Arche ones bought for that in 2017 have been a disappointment.
If you can’t be convinced they’re not ugly, though... it’s a shame.

I am going to hang on to them for now. As it gets to sandal wearing time I will try them with outfits. Comfort being the reason for now.

I don’t see any problem for a sport- casual sandal. I agree not so great with dressier “ garden party “ outfits.
And part of the issue is, it’s hard to get real walking comfort without some utilitarian properties like a rugged sole, stretchy or breathable materials ( tech) , good straps. Sheesh!
More support for building outfits from the feet / footwear up—I sometimes, maybe mostly now, need to identify what shoes( for a season or kind of use) my feet will allow, and build an outfit that complements that.
It’s harder than I thought, and really gets to issues of “ imaginary outfits “. Partly because I’m picky ( meaning, intolerant/ unrealistic!) about what types of more casual shoes, sneakers and such, I think look good with dressier items on me, no matter what is showing up on models, style blogs and such.

I’m not sure if you mean you didn’t wear them much on that trip or since then. Either way, I’m always curious when people call something in their closet ugly. Did you think they were ugly when you got them? Did something happen to make you turn on them? Or are we all misunderstanding and you mean “ugly” the way “bad” can mean “good”?
